All I'll say for now is Moffat managed to be both bold and gutless.

Initial reaction: Don't like it. Why can't they let anything be, why must everything be cheapened?

The more I think about it, the more I wish I could give it a 2 instead of a 3.

I don't like how they wimped out on Clara's death. I don't like how it took 10 years for Gallifrey to come back only to get brushed aside for Moffat's Waifu Hour. I thought RTD was bad with his pet Rose getting her own Tennant clone, but at least he never made her immortal and gave her a fucking TARDIS. Also, I already think its absurd that no one killed Ashildir in 5 billion years, but don't you love how the generic warrior race of the week had tech that let a mortal hang around until the end of the universe?

I really don't like how freaking Rassilon shows up just to be an impotent old politician who gets dispatched off screen faster than you can say "I'll get you Gadget!". I hate how they didn't even bother to clear up the stupid hybrid thing they spent all season hyping, although Moffat could easily save it with some Rassilon/Davros evil bro-op shenanigans.

I was really disappointed with the return of Gallifrey. I mean the Time Lords were never exactly what you expected, but this was just...sad. Rassilon just laid down like a sad little pup in the mere presence of the Doctor. I'm thinking this wasn't so much a season finale as it was a setup for the next season. I imagine there will be some serious blowback from the Time Lords for how far the Doctor went. This was by far the least Doctor-ish he's ever been, and that includes the War Doctor. I don't imagine Moffat did that unintentionally. Maybe we're saying the origin of the Valeyard?

I didn't mind Clara and Me getting to journey about in their own TARDIS though. Clara's death is still fixed so we know that she chooses to come back to die at some point. It would have bothered me if they completely bypassed it though.

I think a new companion (or no companion) will help breathe some life into Moffat's writing, but I wouldn't be upset if he stepped down after the next season.

I turned it off with Doctor, Me, and Clara in the tardis. I'm not really sure I want to watch it right now. I miss back when it was about going on self-contained adventures.

I went out to get stuff, and once I got back from the drive decided to watch the ending.
Hopefully this means they will focus on more self-contained adventures now!

edit: So do you think he was playing her, and wanted her to go on without knowing that was his plan.

Actually... about that, there literally is a deleted scene of that in Journey's End, and RTD says on the commentary he's still sad it was cut to tighten it up likes to believe it still happened we just didn't get to see it on screen.

I'm a firm believer of deleted scenes not being canon, so I just pretend that one never happened.
