If you skim through that game, you'll recognize several Dark Cloud features, such as mimics in the dungeon, weapon build up, and so on. The differences are more like enhancements or polish, if you will.

For example, in Dark Cloud 2 you can recruit many people to your party, instead of just the six in Dark Cloud. The trade-off is that only two can fight, while the third is only a supporting ride-along character. Chosing him wisely can help you through a tricky dungeon.

Well, in Rouge Galaxy, you likewise have a large party, and can swap out the line-up as desired, with the bonus that three of your characters can be onscreen at once! You control one, while the others follow you and attack nearby enemies automatically. You can your control from one on-screen character to another, on demand.

If one charcter is knocked out, control reverts to another. You can then elect to revive your fallen comrade, etc....

Well, now that [link=http://boards.ign.com/rogue_galaxy/b10855/p1]Rogue Galaxy[/link]'s finished and done and been out for a while, what do you suppose Level 5 are working on currently? There's no reason they can't return to Dark Cloud again. Certainly there is room in their storyline for sequel action.

;^) And, as an added bonus, Rogue Galaxy is a PS2 game instead of a PS3 one, which definitely makes it easier on the wallet.
It would be nice to see Dark Cloud continue, though. Maybe even with the original characters such as Toan, Xiao, Ruby, etc. ;^)

In the White Knight Chronicles video interview, the creator of the game said they're going to release White Knight Chronicles, then another game that I didn't hear, and then he said "I suppose Dark Cloud 3 is something we'll have to make since that's always what foreign media asks us about".

But, hopefully, things will turn around eventually. I haven't bought a new game since Tomb Raider Anniversary was released, and I had to scrape together funds for that. :^/

According to PSMania, an Italian PlayStation magazine, Level 5 is developing Dark Cloud 3 exclusively for the PlayStation 3.

Here is what the article states (translated into english):

"One of our infiltrates, has revealed that Level 5 is working on a new Dark Cloud exclusively for the PlayStation 3. This title will come out in March of 2009, and will be developed using a new open-technology, the Japanese style "Kumo Engine"."

Currently Level 5 is working on White Knight Chronicles which is due out in 2008 and from the sounds of it, they are already thinking ahead and have set Dark Cloud 3 into full production.

Dark Cloud 3 would be well received now as a change of pace from GTA IV. I love dark cloud and dark cloud 2.

Personally, i will be very disapointed if it doesn't come out. I've been an avid DC fan for years now, and in my opinion, it was their best work out of all of their titles. Not saying their other games were't great, i've played and finished them all and thoroughly enjoyed each one, but i just don't think anything really compares to what they first broke on to the scence with. Dark Cloud i feel, has a really unique storyline and gameplay(not to forget the coolness of the georama and is generally a really fun series. Hopefully they continue the series to create many more expansions of the original concept, but until then guess we'll just have to wait and see what they decide to do after White Knight Story...

For example, if you met them at a point in time a number of years after their original adventure together, Ruby the immortal genie wouldn't have changed, so we'd recognize her straight away, but Xiao the kitty-cat girl could have grown up into a shapely adult woman in her own right, and we'd think it was a different, grown-up Kitty-cat woman until Ruby introduced her by the name you gave her way back when.

It seems like the possibility of a Dark Cloud 3 is increasing. I hope they're are developing one but just keeping it a secret. i remember when it was supposed to come out a long time ago (DC3), and remember how L5 mentioned how they wanted it to be a darker game, graghics wise. So it may be possible that they are simply being perfectionists and while releasing new games such as rogue galaxy and white knight story, they've been brainstorming and crafting ideas into dark cloud 3 along the way. that would be awesome since dark cloud in my opinion, is a game that could easily be introduced to countless new features, more so than in other rpg's. Not to mention that the more time they have to review ideas and test them for the new installment the better.
and lastly, why the hell would they stop making installments on a series that's would easily be accepted and most likely approved by fans? Dark Cloud is a pretty repetetive game, yet i love it. Personally, they could redo everything about dark cloud 2, just give it different dungeons and characters that are some what relatable, and i would probably be hooked.

Hell ya! That game got to be better than the first two. Been playing them to get the feel of them again.
