picked up presale tix today for bob dylan, wilco, and beck (performing a stripped down acoustic set) at jones beach this summer on july 27. i'm pretty excited. i shelled out for the best tix i could get and ended up getting the first section in one of the first rows. that usually never happens to me. i can't believe it.

also going to the foals show this friday with some friends. they all swear it's one of the best live gigs you can witness.

last week I saw Kendrick Lamar on Tuesday, Flying Lotus on Thursday, and Lower Dens/Yo La Tengo/Beach House on Friday

I'm seeing an awesome modern minimalist composer named John Adams at the Library of Congress May 24, then Animal Collective twice in a row June 11 and 12, then Eleanor Friedberger June 27.

Then of course this insane lineup at Moogfest Mountain Oasis gets announced, which I have to see, meaning I'll see Godspeed, NMH, Animal Collective again, and then just pass out from ecstasy.

i saw foals tonight. it was okay. not really my thing. i am pretty sure surfer blood opened up for them but i missed it bc i was at a bar and the islanders were playing the penguins for game 2 of the playoffs and the majority of the game was a tie so i couldnt leave. the isles won so i was vindicated for sticking it out.

everyone else in the bar was watching the knicks. they won too. go ny.

Anyways IDL is a great venue (saw DJ Figure a couple weeks ago, it was tons of fun) and this new tour that DJ Shadow is doing is really dancey and fun (judging by the Youtube videos). Try and get ur ticket soon, tho, cause I think it may sell out.

Saw him a few months ago.. 5 maybe.. it was Ok.
He didn't have that cool, but terribly named, Shadowsphere with him soooo it was boring.
Bad sound. He complained the whole time. And I hate DJ sets.

I saw Deerhunter when they went on tour with No Age and Dan Deacon. That was a really cool show, but probably a bit different than your normal Deerhunter show. I would recommend seeing them, but maybe not driving 8 hours to do so.

That sounds like an incredible concert. Damn. You should have called out Cox on his banter. He seems to very responsive to his audience. He seems very defensive and quick to attack, so he's probably pretty insecure. Which is sad, cause he's an incredible artist.

Also, if you want to know more about Cox, read his blog. Here's an excerpt from summer 07':

No, he has his own set with a keyboard player and a drummer. That was cool too, a lot of improvisation, those guys play well off each other.

I've seen him 3 times now and i haven't really been very impressed at all any of those times.
I like his music alright, but it was kind of a bore live.

I guess his visuals were pretty cool last time though. But that's not really enough..
