Accidentally Skipped DLC?

I wanted to play Borderlands online with my friend, and when I joined his game he was on the last mission of General Knoxx. I don't have the DLC yet, and I wanted to play it. I checked my quests in single-player and I still have the final missions. If i download the DLC for myself will it restart? Is it impossible for me to get the achievements for completing the missions in the DLC?

Should be able to do it, yes. Progress in both solo and co-op play are treated as the same in BL games; you should start at the beginning but, when you catch up to where you joined your friend, you should be able to skip what you've already completed.
