Welcome everyone to the Second Tier of IGN Hockey Board's Champions League. The mission is simple: Win the league, get promoted, ???, profit.

With two weeks to go until the regular season, I'll set the draft to the Sunday before the regular season (The 1st, I believe) at 10EST/7PST. This can be changed if necessary.

Same rules have carried over from last year. If you'd like to propose any changes, do it quickly so we can vote and make a decision. As for promotion to T1, I believe procedure is winner of the Regular Season & the winner of the Post-Season will be promoted. If the Regular Season winner wins post season I think the 2nd place winner of the regular season/post season gets promoted too (we can vote for which one)

As far as draft order, We will continue to use our bizarre yet very reliable Italian lotto system. I assume this is the link https://www.lottomaticaitalia.it/it/prodotti/lotto and I'll take the results for the week before the draft. Starting on left column and working down, then across columns to the right.

This will determine draft order, as is tradition.

That Sunday should be good with me.Sundays or pretty much any day after 5PDT/8EDT works for me except next Friday.

I'm an old man too. Time is ideal for me - it means I get to draft in peace after the kid's asleep.

I think DQ meant to comment in this one but he said that draft time is good.

I need to hear what you guys wanna do in terms of T1 promotion if the regular season winner wins the playoffs too.

You guys want to do 2nd place in playoffs or 2nd place regular season?

Yeah, multiple tabs must have mixed them up.

Personally for promotions I would rank them:

1) Regular season winner
2) Top playoff finisher who isn't recipient of promotion #1
and if there are more promotions to make fill them from the regular season.

That way the bulk of the season is what matters more, but in any scenario at least one promotion is up for grabs in the playoffs.

If yahoo was better or more consistent with injured statuses then regular IR would be fine. But they’re so bad, players staying DTD a week after the team placed a player on IR, players getting randomly switched from IR to OUT and this disabling your team from making roster moves while an OUT player is in an IR slot. IR+ is IMHO necessary until they demonstrate an ability to competently manage player injury status - which they haven’t yet.

Definitely agree with IR+. Yahoo can be frustrating.

I'm not picky about the wingers or active slots. While wingers can be more difficult to find, it shouldn't hurt us too much in a smaller league.

I can't fix it (I actually gave Ben full commissionership, I didn't keep co). I've tried to ping Ben on Facebook, no response yet.

Yeah that's weird. I'm in it now and it changed it to random pick order.

Nothing I can do now. Sorry guys something must have changed between friday night when I set it to now

Okay so it reset the draft order when I changed IR to IR+ and added 2 more bench guys.

Totally my fault guys. Should have double-checked earlier

damn I went from first to eight, talk about crap luck

no way we can postpone til tomorrow and get the right draft order back? i mean, even in an eight team league, that completely changes my draft strategy

Sorry guys, bad things kept happening during the draft and I got a bit distracted.

For any curious onlookers, I came in with my team still named The Sophomore Slumps, because that's what I named it last year after noticing I had inadverdently drafted a bunch of sophomores. This year, it wasn't inadverdent - I deliberately drafted every sophomore I could that wasn't a tremendous reach - ended the draft with 8 of em (Laine Marner Werenski Aho Guentzel Sheary Tkachuk and Skjei - some other bastards took Matthews Murray and Nylander before I could).

Of course, after drafting a team full of year 2 players, Yahoo's immediate post draft ranking showed me I was projected in a 2-way tie for 2nd. Kismet.

I knew the compressed league size would allow for unprecedented daily and weekly records.

For instance, tonight I am a monumental -15.

I was excited about only being in 8th after a bad first week but then I remembered that there were only 8 teams.

Lol. Really? I���d have assumed a smaller league defaulted to smaller playoff bracket, but I guess if it inherited last years settings...

Well, looks like my first champions league playoff run in a while(though it was going to happen anyway) ends at the first round(unless I can somehow pull off a game winning power play goal and a 5 minute major from Parayko or Scheifele).

Huh. So I lost my semifinal at literally the last instant of action yesterday. Overtime goal earning Rakell and Getzlaf 2 assists and +2 , and pushing Talbot's sv% down below my opponent's, flipped my lead to a loss right as the week ended. And all of that because I woke up too late on Sunday to set my lineup for the abnormally-early Pit-Phi game, leaving 3 assists and +2 on my bench. Argh.

Yeah I’ll start hammering at this on Tuesday. Been a busy summer. I have my doubts we have enough people for two tiers anymore.
