Starscourge Radahn
Welcome to our Elden Ring lore page about the mighty Starscourge Radahn and his tiny horse. Here, you'll learn everything there is to know about the character's origins, their role in the game, and what becomes of them.
Radahn was born to Rennala and Radagon, and despite such mighty parents, only became a demigod when his father married Queen Marika. This ignores the fact that Radagon is Marika, but that's just a classic bit of Elden Ring for you.
Even as a child, Radagon exhibited impressive physical and magical strength, and it could be this that pushed him to revere Godfrey as an idol. As a child of the head of the Academy of Raya Lucaria, Radagon studied sorcery early on, but specifically wen ton to study gravitational magic in Sellia and an Alabaster Lord. You might think this was to become more powerful, but it was actually so that he could continue riding into battle on his tiny steed, Leonard. He also became so powerful that he was able to stop the stars from moving, essentially stopping the fate of any linked to them.
During his time commanding the mighty Redmanes, he was an unparalleled warrior and strategist, and it was during this period that he befriended Jerren, and the two swore an oath of honorable death. This is likely the reason Jerren oversees the festival where fighting Radahn is the main attraction.
During The Shattering, the war between Marika's children began, with each one vying for the title of Elden Lord. While Radahn was capable of besting nearly everyone else, he could never defeat Malenia, who had come into Caelid to fight him. During a deadlock in their battle, Malenia's rot bloomed, thereby not only eating away at Radahn both physically and psychologically, but also irrevocably changing Caelid into what we see in the game.
It's here that the player meets Radahn, and after years of pain and madness, Radahn meets his end at the hands of the player character, finally putting him out of his miserable existence, and also allowing the stars to move once again.
