Not personally a fan of rouge likes and the repetition of entire sections after failing at a particularly hard fight is not a good time. But the overall quality is high and it’s great they released it for free.
No game I have played gives you this amount of freedom. 13 years later the game still impresses. Landmark in gaming history.
Almost a total masterpiece. Can’t believe this was released on the SNES in 1994. Hasn’t aged at all and probably the best game on the system.
Do not have good memories of this one…
This is just plain bad…
I found this game to be overly repetitive and almost no fun to play at a certain point, it felt like a complete chore about half way through, no interest in finishing. Don’t quite understand the critical acclaim as I see very little that’s special about this game.
Some of the levels are genuinely impossible to manage without a guide, particularly the last one (8-4). The game is still tremendous fun, but that would have been impossible back in 85. Ending is also weak, particularly compared to Super Mario Land.
Loved this but it’s still not as good as the first two. While the story and character building is second to none, the gameplay lost a lot of what makes Bioshock unique and fun. Combat felt significantly more generic. However, it almost feels trivial in the face of such an amazing story and tremendous world building.
While not quite as good or innovative as the original game, the sequel is still amazing. One of the most fun and thought provoking titles out there. Didn’t find the Lamb antagonist as well written as her predecessors, Ryan and Fontaine, but dialogue and character development remains very strong.
Good game saved by the combat mechanics. Everything else is poor or awful, bar the voice acting. Characters have potential but are written very poorly and the dialogue is insufferably cringe worthy. The main story is below average and generic, which didn’t stop the devs from inserting almost 12 hours worth of mostly uninteresting, uninterrupted cutscene after cutscene after cutscene, thus totally ruining the pacing of the game. It’s also chock full of filler content to lengthen the game out, including lengthy errand missions and other boring content, just so it gets a higher ‘how long to beat’ score.
Nevertheless, the combat is excellent, and, for Devil May Cry or hack and slash fans, the game is still worth playing. Barely.
Great game with some serious drawbacks. I played it when it first came out back in 2020 on PS4 and it would barely run, and experience many had. 5 frames a second and more glitches and weird stuff happening at the same time than I could count on two hands. A broken mess of a launch. Playing it on PS5 in 2024 is a very different, albeit still not perfect experience. Glitches and performance issues still exist but are no longer game breaking, although they do dampen immersion. The story is good but isn’t long enough and doesn’t live up to the massive amounts of potential that’s there. Characters are great, particularly Adam Smasher and Silverhand. V’s ok, not as likeable as many other characters in the game. The open world and traversal around it is amazing, although it doesn’t feel like Night City is very densely populated. The side quests were also quite beefy, but I was expecting the overall length of the game to clock a little higher (it’s 20 hours ish for main story and most major side missions).
Surprisingly excellent game. Very short but makes excellent use of Dualsense 5’s capabilities. It’s also preinstalled and free for all those on PS5, so extremely easy to recommend.
Amazing. Improves on the first game in almost every way. Genuinely hard to move on to other games after getting the platinum.
