A Plague Tale: Innocence was a game that snuck up on me, after it was recommended by friends. The game is very compelling and unique, and I had a lot of fun discovering everything the game had to throw at me. Some moments were sad and heartbreaking, but I loved the brother and sister dynamic and how much they stood up for each other. The other characters that get introduced throughout the game were also great, and everyone had wonderful character development despite the game not being all that long.

The Last of Us Part II is an excellent video game, but is held back by its story choices and pacing. Right off the bat is a pivotal moment, a moment that drives the rest of the story and makes characters do what they do. Just like the first game, it's an incredibly immersive and emotional game, but by the end of it I was left with more questions than answers, and was just overall unsatisfied with what had played out.

Spider-Man 2Beat

Unfortunately, even though Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a delight to play, it's a step down from the 2018's original and 2020's spinoff. The story feels a lot more convoluted, even though I adored everything about Kraven and Venom. That said, having both those massive storylines happen at the same time felt, at times, rushed and random. Peter didn't feel like he had much of a chance to slowly become part with the symbiote, it seemed like he had control and then suddenly did not without much struggle or character development. This game is also short, at most around the 20 hour mark, and I've had no desire since beating it completely to return to it. It's a wonderful 20 hours, but had plenty of opportunity to stretch things out instead of be rushed together like it felt.

A very similar game to 2018's Spider-Man, this spinoff is a fun, but short experience. Fortunately, it being shorter sort of helps in this case, as it has a clear and simple story that doesn't get bogged down by other things going on, and is a lot of fun to play ESPECIALLY on the PS5. Web swinging feels more fluid and realistic, and showcases a lot of what the console is capable of. Ultimately, a great short game that improves on mainly the gameplay aspects that the first game brough to the table.

Marvel's Spider-Man is an excellent Spider-Man game, and on top of that, just a top-notch Spider-Man story. I loved this version of Peter Parker, and every villain was compelling and fun to play against. The game isn't the longest game out there, and there is very little to no replay value, but for what it's worth it's an essential PS4 game that should be in everyone's library.

Tears of the Kingdom might very well be my favourite game of all time. It managed to expand upon its predecessor in a way that was refreshing, fun, bigger, and improved (on top of what was already a near perfect game). The only thing that holds the game back is the hardware limitation by the outdated (at the time) 6 year old Nintendo Switch. That said, it's incredibly impressive what they managed to achieve, and to top everything they had already achieved in the previous game. A must play for every video game fan in the world.

Super Mario Odyssey is likely the greatest 3D Mario game out there, as good or better than the likes of Mario Galaxy and Mario 64. It's a game that will have you smiling from start to finish, and will find yourself wanting to replay from the second the credits roll.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a pivotal game for its time and paved the way for what an open world game should be. Complete player freedom and memorable characters, enemies, and locations will stick with you from now until the end of time.

Some of the best story, combat, and world ever in a video game. The PS5 remake is the definitive way to experience The Last of Us, and I couldn't recommend it enough.
