Perfect game! Beautiful story faithful to Zelda. Took a while to see everything but that just shows how much content with packed into one game.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

I played through the beginning hours of Horizon Zero Dawn a couple years ago and loved it. I stopped playing mostly due to life getting busy and never came back to it. Playing through it now was an experience. The story was intriguing and stuck with me throughout. I found myself invested in Aloy's journey and felt as annoyed as she did with the incompetence she had to deal with. Contrary to what others have said, I enjoyed the dry, sarcastic humor in the game and felt it fit with Aloy's character. She felt like a real person with emotions. The acting wasn't always the best from the characters (Aloy included) but I enjoyed the journey they were all on. I had an idea of where the story was going but could not have foreseen some of the twists and turns.
The combat was one of my favorite aspects as you never feel like you're an expert. No matter how hard you grind in the game to level up, you will still struggle to fight the biggest machines if you don't have the right equipment and the fast enough reflexes to anticipate their next move. The side quests were fun and they fleshed out the world of Horizon but I always felt like they fell flat. Beyond that, the collectibles weren't all that alluring as the game went on. I found myself annoyed to look for collectibles as they were either too hard to find or did not feel as if there was any discernible reward to finding them.
All in all, I enjoyed my time with Horizon and it is a game I would play again in the future and I can't wait to play the sequel. I would gladly recommend Horizon Zero Dawn to anyone who wants an immersive story about what finding yourself and understanding where you fit in the world. Be ready for a challenge in terms of combat and for lackluster side quests but what it lacks in side content, it makes up in an incredible story that will stick with you in between sessions, dragging you back to the console to see what is next and will remain with you long after it's over.

Being a huge Sonic fan when I was younger, I was excited to get back into the franchise with this one. Breath of the Wild got me back into Zelda and I went back and played many of the older games so I thought that this would help me finally get through my Sonic backlog.
Sonic Frontiers was difficult to get into at first. I played through the first island on two separate occasions before I actually committed to the game. For some reason, I couldn't get into the game at first. It seemed like way to much to get used to. I'm used to skill trees and collecting/fetch quests but it felt out of place in a Sonic game at first. It felt like too much being thrown at me at once.
On my third playthrough however, I finally clicked with the game. Sonic Frontiers came alive and I felt like I was finally enjoying the game. It all fell into place and I learned to love the mechanics and the story. The plot isn't anything crazy but it is certainly more than Sonic has brought to the table before. The combat needed more work but this game is surely a step in the right direction! The skill tree and fetch quests never clicked perfectly but I worked through them. By the end, I found myself rushing through the collecting just to finish the story. One of my biggest gripes was that you need to collect a certain amount of items to progress the story along. That doesn't do it for me and feels like fluff to round out the playtime. I also didn't enjoy that when you did do the side quests, it didn't offer much in terms of world building or expanding on the characters. It all felt very out of place at times.
I am excited for the next 3D game and to see what else Sega is planning. This game wasn't perfect (far from it) but it reinvigorated my love for the franchise! It may not be the best game I have played but it ventured far into new territory, something franchises often struggle with.

An amazing game that shows its age in the best way possible. Not the best remake but one of the best in the series.

Just when I thought A Plague Tale couldn’t get any darker than its first installment, Requiem rips your heart out and keeps doing it for its entire run. Building off the lore from Innocence, Requiem seeks to answer some of those questions. Where it falls flat is in the story being TOO bleak. There is little to no hope in this story. Requiem shines best when Amicia is alone. Her drive carries the story. She is the heart of the story.

In terms of graphics, this game left much to be desired. The graphics really did feel like an old game from the PS2. However, the story had so much heart and the Pokemon so creative that I felt that nostalgia and love for Pokemon reignite. I have played every Pokemon game but the last 2 generations have felt empty and devoid of heart. Violet brought me back to that and for that, despite its many flaws, I cannot hate this game.
