Peerless, timeless. Still my favorite game ever, despite being nearly 30 years old it still looks great. There's not an ounce of fat on this, the gameplay is streamlined and presents the absolute best of the 16-bit era RPG mechanics. Every character is likeable, the soundtrack is sublime, and the multiple endings were incredible. One of the only single player games I've beaten more than a few times and I'd replay any day. A perfect game.

Completed this game 4 times on PS1 and twice on the DS and around 13 times on an emulator for the ending.
An innovative game at the time of its release. But what really captivated me is its simplistic approach on its time travel and save the world story but could get you contemplating once you get into the rabbit hole of understanding it’s purpose further. It’s hard to forget Soundtrack also helped establish it to be one of the most iconic and influential video game of all time as per fans and critics (well I think that’s not even hard to understand). And the last but not the least is its world visuals crafted by the imagination of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama that added more charm to it. It was unique but extraordinary at the time of its release.
It may not appeal to younger gamers today but it may also be a great experience to them if they give it a chance.

Ah, Chrono trigger. I played this game so many times, and I still never got all the endings. The story is so vast, so beautiful, so captivating.... It's difficult to categorize the impact this game had, especially seeing how ahead of its time it is. Each character is incredible (the robot being my favorite), the world is very well structured, and everything becomes even more incredible when Lavos enters the story, then the game embraces you and the immersion takes over your being. A recommendation I made, and make to all my friends, is simple: "Play Chrono trigger".

To me, this is the pinnacle of the classic JRPG. The story is fun, touching, dramatic, and thrilling. The soundtrack can’t be beat. The art was done by the late Akira Toriyama. New Game+. Many different possible endings. I love it. I go back every so often and it never fails to enthrall me again.

This is, without a doubt, the greatest game ever made. Others try, but this is it. The first, the best. Great, moving, beautiful story and a soundtrack that needs to be heard! Volume or headphones are an absolute must for this masterpiece.

The game is old. BUT it is way better than it has any right to be for an old game. The story is amazing and your choices guide it. A masterwork of game design

Such a simple RPG from over 20 years ago still holds up to this day. The graphics still looks good no matter what system you buy it on. The combat is easy to pick up and the difficulty curve is smooth and forgiving compared to other RPGs from the time. The multiple endings mean that you will get some replay value out of the game. This is the RPG I will always recommend to everyone.

A lot of games from this era I have a lot of nostalgia for, however when you revisit them all these years later, age has not been kind to them. Not so with Chrono Trigger. As when replaying this game after all of these years, it was still an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. It remains one of my all time favorite games that I would easily recommend to anyone. The combat system is engaging, exciting, and thoughtful. Enemy variety and mechanics are strong, accompanied by some of the best pacing and progression I've seen in an RPG full stop. The music is also one of the best in the medium, and definitely one that I've had on repeat for countless years. The side content and characters really bring the world to life, and the quest design implements choices that can change the world, characters, and endings (there are more than Nier I believe). Made by a dream team of creatives, this game doesn't disappoint.

It is literally the second greatest rpg of all time.... and arguably could be the first. Do yourself a favor and play this game all the way through at least once in your life.

I have played this game around 5 times having been introduced to it in the early 2000s. I honestly think it is still enjoyable even if almost 30 years have passed since its release.
This game is a true masterpiece as the artstyle, soundtrack, worldbuilding and characters stand the test of time. I'd say even the writing and combat do as well, but that may be more controversial due to modern tastes.
The game is very dynamic with a fun plot that lets us know the history of its world and eventually save it from impending doom. Even though the time travel is simplistic and just functions storywise, its very enjoyable.
This game would be definitevely benefited through a remake. Now it would be a good time as well to honor the late Akira Toriyama, who imprinted a beautiful art style on the game.
I'd also personally love a deeper exploration to the world that was set up. Not in the way of Chrono Cross which dealt with more philosophical aspects in some ways, but one in which one could explore the continents that were presented, and their history, in a more extensive manner.
The game had a very interesting perspective on human history, playing hard into the lost civilization trope, which it executes very well.
Also, it had some optimistic vision in which the modern world and its advances are not the cause of the doom but external forces. Even more, the hubris of ancient power seekers is whats emphasized.
For these reasons, I think a good sequel could consider what was the future that was saved, and how it came with its own set of problems.
In any case, this game is definitely worth it. Great story, world and characters. Even if some aspects can seem outdated, don't give up on this gem.
