Game Decks and Limited Run Games have announced the Yooka-Laylee board game, a card-based tabletop game inspired by the colourful platformer from Playtonic.
Designed for 2-4 players, the Yooka-Laylee board game is made up of a deck of cards that are used to create a modular board that can be laid differently every time you play. Players work alongside Yooka and Laylee to move around the board, using quills to buy Glide, Reptile Roll, and Honey Puddle powerups to get an edge over their opponents. Points can be earned by beating the challenges posed by The Ghost Writers, too. The board is also covered in other characters, such as Blasto, Kartos, and Towzer, all hand-painted by artists.
The game will be available exclusively at LimitedRunGames.com, and will launch June 29. In addition, a new soundtrack album - Yooka-Laylee Capital B-Sides - is also available, featuring ten new tracks written for the tabletop game. The CD will be sold with the Special Edition version of the Yooka-Laylee board game.
There will also be a Gold Edition of the game, which features a gold foil-stamped cover and some alternate player pieces, dice, and a cover card. It will be available only as part of a special Yooka-Laylee collection being released by Limited Run Games, also launching on June 29.
