E3 2024 and 2025 have been canceled, according to the Los Angeles Tourism Board of Commissioners.
At a meeting on June 21, 2023, the board presented a packet with updated information surrounding the tourism business in Los Angeles. On page 21, there’s a chart that shows the city’s convention sales for the fiscal year 2022-2023. Under the heading “booked room nights produced,” there’s an asterisk that notes “includes E3 cancellations for 2024 & 2025" at the bottom right.
ESA rep tells me that E3 2024's fate is TBD. (City of LA had listed it as cancelled)

ESA: "ESA is currently in conversation with ESA members and other stakeholders about E3 2024 (and beyond), and no final decisions about the events have been made at this time." https://t.co/SmGouJi1Bl
In a statement to Axios reporter Stephen Totilo, an ESA representative said that E3 2024's fate is still to be determined. "ESA is currently in conversation with ESA members and other stakeholders about E3 2024 (and beyond), and no final decisions about the events have been made at this time."
E3 2023 was canceled earlier this year and ESA didn’t confirm whether the event would be returning in the following years. E3 2024 and 2025 were scheduled for June 11 and 3, respectively. It's unclear whether they will ultimately go through as planned, or if they will move to another city entirely.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that E3 is gone permanently. However, with showcases like Summer Game Fest and big players like Ubisoft, Tencent, and Sega who elected to skip E3 2023, the future for the event looks bleak.
