While they team-up to assemble a cast and crew, Netflix will be gearing up to host another Murphy-fronted feature on their platform following the success of Dolemite Is My Name – the critically acclaimed comedy biopic that spun out from the streamer's mutually beneficial partnership with the star.In fact, this new deal could end up being a major coup for Netflix, especially as it comes at a time when the online streaming market is growing even more crowded – with the likes of Disney+ having recently joined the battle.
Disney's foray into online streaming launched to great fanfare (and a few technical issues) on November 12. Shortly after its debut, Disney announced over 10 million subscribers signed up to the online subscription service on its first day of operation. With Disney now owning so many different studios and properties, some of the most classic movies and TV shows of all time are available on-demand from the service, including an immense back-catalogue of popular titles and a whole line-up of new original shows.
