At the Licensing International Expo 2011, comingsoon.net spotted a promotional image for a LEGO Star Wars TV special, based off the popular video game series. Coming Soon says the official description reads, "George Lucas is hard at work on a second animated series that will complement 'The Clone Wars', taking 'Star Wars' in a completely new and fun direction." The poster notes the special is airing fall 2011.
Today also had Lucas reveal the new title Star Wars: Detours for an upcoming TV series. But what series is he talking about? In an interview with CNN, all Lucas said was, "Now I'm working on television shows. Clone Wars and another show called Star Wars: Detours and it just gives me the chance to be creative in a lot different fields, in a lot of different ways and enjoy myself."
Could the title Detours be for the live-action series? That seems unlikely, given that Lucas has gone on record that we shouldn't look for that series anytime soon. So perhaps it's the title for the Seth Green produced comedic animated series? Or is it another series all-together?
You can check out the CNN report below, which notes that the Star Wars brand, all-together, has made a staggering 20 billion dollars.
Lastly, getting back to that long-in-the-works live-action Star Wars TV series, both Lucas and his producing partner Rick McCallum have said they have 50 completed scripts for the series, whenever it actually goes into production. But who wrote these scripts? denofgeek.com believes they know who one of the writers are, revealing that a source told them that Matthew Graham worked on the show. Graham is the co-creator of the original UK Life on Mars and its spinoff, Ashes to Ashes and he wrote the Doctor Who two-parter "The Rebel Flesh" and "The Almost People."
Den of Geek got in touch with Graham and while he wouldn't confirm that he wrote for Star Wars, they note, "All he would say to us was that he had done some work out at Lucasfilm during 2008 and 2009 'on something unbelievably cool', and that his contract 'had come to an end'. 'I hope one day I'll be able to talk about it,' he told us." As Den of Geek noted, unless Graham worked on yet another mystery project, that sounds very close to a confirmation…
