Rather than just tell you Rock Lee is in the game, we decided to give you every last possible detail. Below you'll find everything you need to know about Rock Lee, including details on every single combo.
Rock Lee
Rock Lee is untalented in the use of any ninjutsu or genjutsu. His fellow students teased him for this handicap while he was in the Academy, though Lee ignored their words and began specializing in taijutsu, hoping to become a powerful ninja despite his inability. Upon being assigned to Team Guy, Might Guy took a personal interest in Lee's attempts to prove himself and began to help him in his dream of excelling in taijutsu. With Guy's assistance Lee learned many advanced taijutsu abilities, bringing him ever closer to achieving his goal of becoming a splendid ninja. Lee looks up to Guy as a father type figure.
Lee's attempts to prove and better himself are recurring themes for his actions throughout the series. He is generally optimistic and believes that with hard work and passion, he can surpass natural genius, but can be prone to depression when faced with setbacks. His drive to succeed is initially most evident with his rivalry with Neji Hyuga, having learned from Guy that having a rival will provide incentive to succeed. Neji, a "genius," finds Lee's efforts of bettering himself to be in vain, believing Lee to be stuck as a "failure" for the rest of his life. As such, Lee resolves to prove Neji wrong, and confronts another "genius," Sasuke Uchiha in an attempt to test his worth. While Lee maintains the desire to defeat Neji in a fight throughout the Chunin Exams, after Neji's eventual defeat by Naruto Uzumaki, another "failure", he seems less interested in this goal. Neji's rejection of his previous belief in fate may also have contributed to this, as he now respects Lee, believing that he will surpass the gifted with enough work, and that he would have given up if he were in Lee's situation.
Hand Seal
Eight Inner Gates
By concentrating his chakra Rock Lee opens up to three chakra gates in his body. The overflow of chakra gives him a tremendous amount of speed and strength for a brief amount of time but has devastating side effects. Combine this with his excellent taijutsu to smash your opponent to the ground.
Combos
X X X X X: Basic Horizontal Strong Combo, the very first and easiest to do of all of Lee's combos. It's fast and does decent damage, while being very easy to block. The idea with this basic combo was to make Rock Lee use fists and kicks to represent that he really is a taijutsu master compared to the other characters, who will usually not change type of attacks during combo.
X X X X Y: Basic Horizontal Killer Combo, it has the same structure as the previous one for the first 4 hits, but with 2 quick unblockable strikes at the end that will break a block. Enemies who constantly block will be penalized, creating good opportunities for Jutsus. The choice of this last blow was a reference to the classic Bruce Lee elbow / fist attack to show respect for the fact that Rock Lee is a character that was created almost as a testimony to Bruce Lee.
BACK + X X Y Y: Heavy Horizontal Combo, we wanted to make a combo which has very little range compared to the other one but with a faster strike since it leaves the opponent stunned. Rock Lee, being a taijutsu master, can punch faster than anyone else, and we wanted to apply the boxer style to him, since he practices the iron fist fighting style.
BACK + X X Y X: Heavy Horizontal Killer Combo, the last blow, takes advantage of the fact that the opponent is completely defenseless in the air and Rock Lee is fast enough to take the opportunity to kick him hard across the arena. The kick is a really good opportunity to focus and release the gates. (Jutsu)
Y Y Y Y: Basic Vertical Strong Combo, this combo shows Rock Lee's abilities with kicking. The first two kicks are fast enough to break an incoming attack and the whole sequence is easy to pull off and can be used in a pinch to get away from the opponent if Rock Lee is in trouble. It is also very easy to block.
Combos (cnt'd)
Y Y X X: Basic Vertical Killer Combo, this combo is all about kicks, but is also about trying to change the rhythm of the combo to make it more difficult to block. The third strike pushes the opponent away in order to put some distance to confuse the opponent, but Rock Lee dashes really quickly to catch up to finish with a upward unblockable kick that sends the opponent flying hard.
FWD + X X X X Y Y: Forward Horizontal Strong Combo, this combo is all about power and medium range. This is a quick series of punches and kicks that connects from afar, sending the opponent away from Rock Lee for a brief moment before dashing toward him again for one last big punch. The last portion of this combo was designed to trick the opponent into thinking he is safe before the last quick punch. This creates a good hole for the last hit. This combo ends close to the attacker, so doing a Jutsu afterward may not be the wisest choice
FWD + X X X Y Y Y X: Foward Horizontal Killer Combo, this combo is all about speed and confusion. Rock Lee spins around the enemy giving blows from every side to finish with a very big punch that sends the opponent flying across the whole arena. This gives a lot of time to open even the third inner gate (Jutsu). This combo was designed to represent Lee's speed, and was highly inspired from episode 30 when Lee takes out his weights and starts to strike Gaara from every direction. Being the most complex combo, it is difficult to execute, and easy to dodge out so it is not too powerful, but the damage is massive. This combo works very well in synergy with the release of the inner gates because of the speed boost.
FWD + Y Y Y X X X: Forward Vertical Strong Combo, this is all about acrobatics. Quick series of easy punches and kicks that eventually switch to a series of unexpected low blows, showing all about Rock Lee's acrobatics and agility. Easy to do, the low blows do not cause serious damage but force the opponent to block low to avoid being kicked high in the air with no further option to defend against aerial attacks.
FWD + Y Y X X Y Y: Forward Vertical Killer Combo, the damage dealer. Every hit in this combo is meant to do massive damage. The kicks are slow and easy to evade, but pack a lot of damage and diversify from high to low to give more challenge. If the fifth kick connects, the opponent becomes stunned, causing Lee to spin in the air and deliver a very powerful down kick that makes him slide backward a bit.
UP + Y Y Y: Reverse Vetical Strong Combo, this combo is tricky since Rock Lee appears in back of the opponent. It is a very acrobatic combo that does more than decent damage for the low number of hits, but leaves Rock Lee open to attacks. This can be potentially bad to release the gates (Jutsu).
UP + Y Y X: Reverse Vertical Killer Combo, tricky and acrobatic as the previous combo, but ends with a surprise split kick under the chin that sends the opponent flying hard. A good way to open the first or second gate or to pursue further aerial attacks against a defenseless opponent.
UP X + Y: Distance Horizontal Killer Combo (Leaf Hurricane AKA Konoha Senpu) : The traditional classic move of Rock Lee, the straight forward flying kick. The distance he covers in the air and the speed are very good, making this combo the ultimate Jutsu breaker against an enemy charging chakra. With good timing, Rock Lee can recuperate on the ground in one fluid motion to deliver a powerful swipe kick that gives enough time to release the inner gates (Jutsu).
Jump + X X X: Aerial Horizontal Strong, exactly like everybody else in the game. Three fast kicks in the air, sending the opponent far enough to open some of the inner gates (Jutsu).
Jump + X X Y: Aerial Horizontal Killer, exactly like everybody else in the game. Two kicks followed by a slam down kick that does massive damage, even when the opponent reaches the ground. Rock Lee usually lands near his opponent, not leaving a lot of response time, which compensates for the big damage output.
Jump + Y X: Aerial Vertical Killer, a straight forward, fast flying kick from the air to the ground. If it connects, Lee can use his other leg to slam the opponent down for extra damage, but this maneuver leaves him close to the opponent, making it hard to launch a Jutsu.
