Viggo Mortensen Would Reprise His LOTR Role But Only If It's "Right For The Character"

One does not simply play Aragorn unless it makes sense.

Viggo Mortensen, best known for his role as Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, has recently stated that he's open to reprising his role as one of the fellowship members once again if it's "right for the character."

In an interview with GQ, Mortensen was asked if he'd be open to playing Aragorn once again in The Hunt for Gollum, to which he responded by saying:

"Sure. I don't know exactly what the story is, I haven't heard. Maybe I'll hear about it eventually. I like playing that character. I learned a lot playing the character. I enjoyed it a lot. I would only do it if I was right for it in terms of, you know, the age I am now and so forth. I would only do it if I was right for the character. It would be silly to do it otherwise."

It's worth mentioning that not much is currently known about The Hunt for Gollum. It has been confirmed that Andy Serkis will direct the upcoming movie and reprise his role as Gollum. Even though the film is still in its early stages, Warner Bros. Discovery has said it's planning to release it sometime in 2026.
