Transformers-GI Joe Crossover Movie Lands Jurassic World Writer

Yo, Joe and roll out!

Last year's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts finally brought the Maximals and Predacons to the big screen for the first time. The seventh installment of the long-running franchise was set after 2018's Bumblebee in the Transformers cinematic timeline, but before the events of the original film. It was the film's mid-credit stinger that separated it from the rest of the pack as it acknowledged another big Hasbro property.

Noah (Anthony Ramos) attends an interview for a security job but soon discovers he is being invited to join the secret military organization G.I. Joe, who will cover his younger brother's healthcare.

A crossover film was inevitable and now The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Derek Connolly, whose work includes big franchises like Jurassic World, Kong: Skull Island, and Detective Pikachu, will roll out the script for the feature, potentially starring Chris Hemsworth in an unrevealed role (fingers crossed for Duke or Destro).

The film will combine two of Hasbro’s biggest toy lines with the Autobots and G. I. Joe team aligning themselves to take on Cobra and the Decepticons. While team-ups of the two toylines have happened in comic book form over the decades at Marvel and IDW, this is the first time on a TV show or movie for this crossover.

Rise of the Beasts takes place in 1994, so there's plenty of wiggle room to work within the timeframe as the first Transformers movie is set in 2007.

The Transformers have crossed paths with numerous franchises in the past, all in comic book form, ranging from Ghostbusters, My Little Pony, and the cast of the original Star Trek.
