Viewers got their first look at Season 3 of Embark Studios' hit FPS, The Finals, via a new season launch trailer unveiled during Summer Game Fest Live.

Season 3 is set to launch on June 13, and will introduce more weapons, a new map, new gadgets, and the return of Terminal Attack--a mode that will be sticking around for good.

The new map--an arena called Kyoto 1568--takes inspiration from the real Kyoto, featuring blooming cherry blossom trees and map features with a Japanese flair, including 16th century temples, beautiful gardens, and thick bamboo forests that are perfect for hiding in. The Kyoto 1568 arena stands out from the game's other maps, which all have a gritty, urban air about them. Kyoto 1568 is also unique in that it includes more height variation in terms of topography, with connected buildings, mountainous terrain, and even hidden underground tunnels for players to traverse. Players can even shoot through the various buildings' Shoji paper walls.

Additionally, all player builds are getting new weapons and gear designed to match the new map's aesthetic. New items include:

  • Recurve Bow (weapon for Lights)
  • Thermal Bore (gadget for Lights)
  • Dual Katanas (melee weapon for Mediums)
  • Spear (melee weapon for Heavies)
  • Winch Claw (specialization for Heavies)

The Finals Season 3 will also introduce the World Tour, a new series of events meant to challenge players. World Tour will see players compete in in-game events and tournaments with a unique combination of rules, loadouts, locales, and rewards. Gaining World Tour wins will allow players to rank up on the leaderboard, and also rank up their World Tour Badge to Bronze, Silver, or Gold tiers, depending on skill. Players can even earn Multibucks at the end of the season if they rise above the competition.

The Finals is free-to-play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
