New Trailer For A24's Maxxxine Crowns A New Slasher Queen

The final act in the X trilogy takes us back to the 1980s slasher era.

After the A24 dropped the teaser for Maxxxine back in April, the studio is finally serving up X fans with a hearty helping of 1980s slasher goodness with a new trailer. Much like the teaser, the trailer has the 1983 song "Obsession" by Animotion beating through the bloody tension.

Mia Goth reprises her role of Maxine "Max" Minx from X, as she's been on the run from the law all the while trying to establish herself as a serious actress. It looks like she's made a blossoming career, but someone is stalking her trying to take her out before things really take off.

Where X was an homage to grindhouse and 70s horror, and Pearl was more of a character piece with nods to early moviemaking, Maxxxine looks to be an unapologetic love letter to the bloody, sometimes over-the-top horror hits of the 1980s.

You can also text and call a number that asked the question "how far you are willing to go for Maxine Minx?": 213-788-1211.

Alongside Goth, Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Halsey, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon also star in the film.

Maxxxine hits theaters July 5.
