Marvel Rivals, the hero shooter featuring an array of characters from across the Marvel universe, will come to consoles in addition to the previously announced PC release. The announcement was made during Sony's State of Play presentation. A closed beta is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in late July.

The new trailer revealed two new characters, Venom and Adam Warlock, mixing it up in the arena, along with the recently unveiled Hela. It also made a point of showing both double and triple team-up attacks between teammates. Specifically we see a team-up between Rocket Raccoon and The Punisher, Scarlet Witch and Magneto, and a three-person team-up with Warlock, Star-Lord, and Mantis. The final team-up, another three-person one, is between Venom, Spider-Man, and Peni Parker.

At one point a pagoda in the environment is destroyed by Storm's tornado, to show off the destructible environments. The PlayStation 5 will get an exclusive Scarlet Spider costume for Spider-Man. The trailer ends with a teaser for another character, as Galacta hints that it shows "how mankind has conquered space."

Marvel Heroes recently ran an alpha test, but ran into criticism over its rules for content creators. The 6v6 shooter features diverse power sets for its heroes along with partly destructible environments, and heroes can team up for synergistic attacks. We haven't seen the full roster, but the characters we've seen so far include popular characters like Spider-Man and Black Panther alongside more obscure picks like Luna Snow.

The July beta is said to be the "first" closed beta test for the game, suggesting there could be more ahead of launch. It will be a "large-scale" test and include players from North America, Europe, and other, unspecified regions.
