Glen Powell Has A "Wild Take" On Playing Batman

Twisters star Glen Powell shares his desire to play Batman on the big screen, and in the vein of a previous Dark Knight actor.

If you blinked during The Dark Knight Rises, then you may have missed Glen Powell's small role as a stockbroker who gets murdered by Tom Hardy's Bane. In the 12 ensuing years, Powell has become a breakout star, and he's headlining Twisters and Netflix's Hit Man this summer. There are no superhero roles on the horizon for Powell, but he's still eager to play Batman in a future movie. And according to Powell, he's already got his own spin on Bruce Wayne's alter ego.

"I was always a Batman guy," said Powell during an interview with GQ. "I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone--it'd probably be closer to Keaton." Powell made his remarks while on the Warner Bros. Studio lot tour's Batmobile section. And he was particularly excited to see Keaton’s Batmobile alongside the others.

"Oh, sick! See? This is the era," said Powell.

Earlier this month, Powell made it clear that he's not interested in doing any Marvel movies or Oscar bait. Presumably Batman holds Powell's interest because for all of Bruce Wayne's high-tech gadgets, he's still just a man under the suit.

Powell's Hit Man will premiere June 7 on Netflix, while Twisters will exclusively be in theaters on July 19.
