It's a big day for Elden Ring fans, as the game's new Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is out now. It's a gigantic expansion and Bandai Namco is going similarly big to promote its launch via a live-action trailer.

The "United in Shadow" trailer shows people dropping what they're doing--whether that's getting coffee, doing yard work, or doing yoga--to come together and stand in awe of the Erdtree. "Brave Tarnished, we call upon you now. It's time to return to the Lands Between, and enter the Realm of Shadow. Walk with us, and prove your worth," reads a line from the expansion's trailer.

Elden Ring launched in early 2022 and became a quick success, going on to sell more than 25 million copies to become a bonafide phenomenon.

The game finished 2022 as the No. 2 best-selling game in the US, trailing only Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. The game was the No. 18 best-selling game in the US in 2023. So far in 2024, it is the No. 19 best-selling game in the US.

Elden Ring's overall sales numbers are expected to grow with the expansion's launch, as Bandai Namco is also releasing a bundle that includes the base game and the expansion for $80. There is also a deluxe edition of the bundle with other extras for $100.

Developed by From Software, Elden Ring may become more than a game and jump into other areas in the future. Many are wondering if From Software might release a sequel, and that remains to be seen.
