Elden Ring Movie? There Is "Interest," Dev Says

Hidetaka Miyazaki says From Software would need to "build a lot of trust and agreement" with a partner to make a good Elden Ring movie.

Elden Ring is a huge hit with 25 million copies sold and fantastic reviews for the base game and its recently released Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. Naturally, many are wondering if Bandai Namco might expand the franchise beyond games to other forms of entertainment, like a potential film. From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki told The Guardian (via VGC) that the studio isn't ruling anything out.

"I don't see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie for example," he said. "But I don't think myself, or From Software, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. So that's where a very strong partner would come into play."

Miyazaki went on to say that From Software would need to "build a lot of trust and agreement" with a potential partner for an Elden Ring movie. "But there's interest, for sure," he said, though he didn't clarify if the interest is from within From Software or if the company has already been approached for a movie deal, or both.

Back in 2021, Bandai Namco said Elden Ring was already being developed for a "variety of other areas," and many took this to mean some kind of film or TV adaptation. Nothing has materialized as of yet, however.

There are more than 30 video game film projects in various stages of development right now, and you can see a rundown of them in the gallery below.
