Stray Is Set To Get An Animated Film Adaptation From The Creators of Nimona

The 2022 feline adventure game Stray is set to get an animated film adaptation from the creators at Annapurna Animation.

To celebrate a year since Stray was first released, Annapurna Animation has announced that their next project will be bringing it to the big screen.

Stray Set To Get Animated

Annapurna Animation was established in December 2022 and is headed by former Disney Animation Executives Robert Baird and Andrew Millstein.

Most known for their recent work on the 2023 adventure animation Nimona, the team plans on getting to work adapting some of Annapurna Interactive‘s most-loved titles.

First up will be Stray which tells the story of a lone cat as they find themselves in a walled city populated by robots, mutants and monster bacteria. Armed with a drone companion known as B-12, they must do what it takes to get back to the surface.

Set in a grungy city decorated with neon lights spilling into the darkness, it will be exciting to see how this is portrayed through animation. Although there are no set dates for the film yet, it’s definitely something to look forward to.

A Great Success

After its success on PlayStation and PC, Stray soon came to Xbox just this August.

With a current 8.4 user score on Metacritic and an ‘overwhelmingly positive’ rating on Steam, it was one of the most-loved games of 2022.

For us here at GameByte, we thought it was “almost purrfect.”

“Stray is a game that you will think about even when you’re not playing it. Like a good book, its world pulls you in and you never want to put it down. It’s nice to see at least one cyberpunk game live up to the hype, eh?” said Joshua Boyles in his review.
