KFC Opens Virtual Restaurant Within Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the best games on the Nintendo Switch and if that wasn’t enough of a fact for you, it’s now gotten itself a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. Hooray!

This isn’t just any old KFC build though, this is a 100 per cent legitimate and fully licensed KFC outlet that you can visit from the comfort (and safety) of your own home. It gets even better than that though, as visiting the virtual fast food restaurant could see you winning some IRL chicken. 2020, amiright?

The venue comes from KFC Philippines and Ogilvy [via NintendoSoup/Ungeek], and can be found on the very creatively named, KFC Island.

The restaurant has a number of features you may recognise from your local chicken shack, including a main kitchen and dine-in area sporting the classic red and white colours. There’s even a storage area for the Colonel’s oh-so-secret blend of 11 herbs and spices, plus menus, artwork, uniforms and more! One of my personal favourite details is the eight piece chicken bucket hats, which you can see in the image above.

If you’re lucky enough to get to KFC Island, the Colonel himself will happily greet you – and gift you a code for a free eight piece fried chicken bucket you can redeem at a real-life KFC Philippines location.

When it comes to marketing, KFC has smashed it out of the park with this one. If you want to visit the Island for yourself, you’ll need to keep an eye on KFC Philippines Facebook page, where the Dodo codes you’ll need are issued daily.

It’s probably going to be pretty tough to get in there though, so best act fast! Hopefully after the free chicken promo ends, KFC Island will still remain open for business.
