A Local Strawberry Field Has New Owners This Season

CARLTON, Minn.– One local family has taken over the reins at a strawberry field in Carlton.

The owners of Happy Critters Farm purchase a popular berry spot back in April, now named The Berry Field.

As the start of picking season is here, the field is full of red and juicy strawberries.

With no prior background in berry growing, owner Joe Lambert was taught the ways by the previous owner. And now the berries are ripe for the picking.

“Everything is new to us, the farming thing isn’t new, been doing it for ever,” said Lambert. “But the strawberry thing is new, irrigation to understanding how to speak strawberry is all kind of new. But we’ve had a lot of help, strawberry Steve who we bought it from, he ran me through strawberry school this winter.”

The Berry Field updates picking times on social media, and even has a Berry Hotline that you can call for the latest updates: 218-830-0846.
