Blood Donations Needed in Northland

DULUTH, Minn.– There is a serious need for blood donors in the Northland.

The Northland Chapter of the Red Cross tells us, only 3 percent of the nation donates blood.
And more often than not, people donate one time and move on.

“I would say this is in the top five where there feels like there’s really a sense of urgency about ensuring we have safe and healthy blood supply through the summer.” said Executive Director Dan Williams.

If you’re looking to donate, the Red Cross is hosting a series of blood drives this week. And when you donate, you not only get the satisfaction of helping save lives, but also a thank-you.

“Today we have Starbucks that are here with cake pops, and coffee, and treats and that kind of thing. and we’re giving out Twister umbrellas here for the next few weeks,” said Williams

They will have several sites later this week as well. On July 2nd, they will be at the St. Anthony Church in Lake Nebagamon  from 10 A.M.-4 P.M.  And on July 3rd they will be stationed at the Cloquet Public Library from 11 A.M.-4 P.M.
