Preparations Take Place For Chum’s Super Rhubarb Festival

The event takes place June 29th at Stella Maris Academy from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

DULUTH, Minn. — Volunteers are busy setting up for Chum’s Super Rhubarb Festival this weekend.

On Thursday tables were being put under the food tent and people were making sure everything is ready to go for the fundraising event. The festival has everything rhubarb from rhubarb pies, crisp, juice, brats and more.

It all takes place on Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stella Maris Academy. This year’s festival is celebrating 50 years of the organization. The party will be even bigger, and everyone is welcome to stop by and show their support.

“It’s really cool to see the community come together and continue to serve our neighbors experiencing homelessness for 50 years. You know that number feels really arbitrary, and I don’t think we realize how long that is. It’s 5 decades, it was back in the 70’s when people came together and decided that they wanted to make a difference in the community. And the fact that they’ve stayed together, and this organization has continued and grown for so long is truly amazing and I feel honored to be a part of it,” said Bradley Zwagerman, Director of Communications and Marketing at Chum.

More volunteers are needed to make it all happen. Afternoon shifts and kitchen support are the biggest needs. Visit Chum’s website for more information.
