SUPERIOR, Wisc. — Mentor North held its 4th Annual Summer Fest Thursday evening at Earth Rider Brewery Festival Grounds in Superior.

The evening of festivities was all the benefit youth mentoring in Superior and Duluth. There was plenty to do, with live music, food, and mega-sized lawn games. Proceeds from tickets and the silent auction went towards Mentor North. Right now, they serve nearly 150 youth in the Twin Ports. Mentor North Development and Communications Coordinator Samantha Smingler said mentorship doesn’t just change on life, it changes two.

“It gives you goosebumps, right?” Smingler said. “Because you want everyone to really be involved and connected. That’s what really makes our bright, inclusive, and makes the Twin Ports the best it can be. So we are just beyond thrilled to se the growth and we’ve got 58 more kids on our waitlist, so we’re ready to keep growing.”

Their mentorship program is rapidly expanding, with 40 more children enrolled than this time last year. Mentor North says that right now, their greatest need is male mentors for boys. 38 boys are currently waiting for matches.
