About
Jeffrey Johnson has written novels and movies in addition to legal analyses of eminent domain and immigration law. His experience in writing engaging fiction makes him uniquely capable of making the most dry and academic legal topics interesting (or as interesting as possible).
Jeffrey Johnson has been editing and managing writers for over 25 years—ever since he created his high school literary magazine while also serving as the editor of the school paper. Since then he has earned an undergraduate degree in history, a master’s degree in screenwriting and a J.D. He combines his love of storytelling with his legal background to create dynamic, engaging, high-quality legal content that gives readers the information they need to make important decisions.
Jeffrey has written award-winning short scripts and multiple features as well as one novel (so far). His writing pursuits have consistently been paired with top-notch research and analysis skills—he was recognized for his writing on topics as diverse as the Irish Revolution, cyberstalking, animal protections in film and television and the immigration implications of arrests that violate the Constitution.
After working for several years to help relaunch FreeAdvice.com, Jeffrey joined the Forbes Advisor Legal team in 2023. Jeffrey has lived in eight states and one foreign country but the Southern Appalachian Mountains are home.
