Daniel M. Yerger, MBA, CFP®, ChFC®, AIF®

Daniel M. Yerger, MBA, CFP®, ChFC®, AIF®, is the President of MY Wealth Planners and a Ph.D. candidate in personal financial planning. He founded a practice in Longmont, Colorado, that became MY Wealth Planners in 2015 and spun off into the independent practice of MY Wealth Planners in 2019. Both Daniel and the firm have been recognized locally and nationally for their work in the field of financial planning, including receiving the National Association of Personal Financial Advisor’s “New Professional Award” in 2023, the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce’s “Ambassador of the Year” award in 2018, and the “Building Bridges” award in 2020. As a certified financial planner (CFP™) professional, he has written exam questions for the Accredited Investment Fiduciary examination. He also co-hosts the "Fleece Vests" podcast, which discusses the "worst ideas in finance," including shoddy investment products and questionable sales tactics in the insurance industry.
 
Daniel began working toward his Ph.D. in 2020 and has published research on advisor fees and compensation, and presented at national conferences on the topic of compensation. As part of his academic work, Daniel is a lecturer at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he teaches the retirement planning class and has taught the investment planning class in the personal financial planning certification track. Daniel also serves on the advisory board of the Journal of Financial Planning’s "Next Generation Planner" publication; on the Financial Planning Association’s executive committee; and on the National Association of Personal Financial Advisor’s West Region board of directors. Daniel has lectured in the Financial Planning Externship on investment planning and has contributed to the Kitces Course, “How to Dissect Existing Life Insurance Documents.”
