Our brother Gilbert Aguirre of United Goodyear Firefighters L4005 has been battling cancer (as well as CooperPoint Insurance) since being diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia 8 years ago.

Leukemia is considered a presumptive work-related cancer and has been stated so in Arizona law for years, but CopperPoint Insurance has denied his claims because they state "chronic" leukemia is different than leukemia. Insurance companies should NOT be able to parse words of legislation to deny coverage in order to protect their bottom line!

Gilbert and his family have been battling CopperPoint Insurance in court. It's one thing to have to battle cancer you received while serving the public, it's yet another to have to fight for healthcare at the same time.
