The new ACCENTUM True Wireless Earbuds from Sennheiser brings all the functionality of the ACCENTUM Plus Wireless into the compact format of earbuds. These lightweight, ergonomically designed earbuds offer some impressive features and battery life while maintaining Sennheiser’s quality audio experience. With a compact form factor and quality construction, there is a lot to love about the new ACCENTUM True Wireless Earbuds.
The Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless Earbuds feature a compact design, built from the ground up with comfort in mind—they are quite comfortable to wear. For those with smaller or larger ear canals, Sennheiser included four ear tip sets to work with, allowing you to find the perfect fit. Once set in ear, the earbuds feel secure without applying unnecessary pressure to your ear. Even when performing more movement-oriented tasks such as running or sports, the ACCENTUM hold in place quite well. The overall comfort, likewise, is impressive with, after an 8-hour listening experience, my ears not feeling overly taxed or sore from the listening experience.
A compact carrying case is also included, which doubles as the charging station for the ACCENTUM. Leveraging magnets for placement, the earbuds, when inserted into the case, stay firmly in place even when tossed around inside your laptop bag. Not once in the last couple weeks of travel has there been a situation where I’ve had to rummage through the bottom of my bag looking for an earbud due to it falling out of the case. Everything stays firmly in place.
On the note of charging, the ACCENTUM True Wireless Earbuds are rated for up to 28 hours of use with an impressive 8 hours of use per charge. This, of course, is dependent on the usage case. In testing while on a 7-hour flight, the ACCENTUM did impressively well, maintaining consistently high-quality audio for 6 hours with full ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) active. This is one of the longer battery life tests we had in recent memory from a set of earbuds. It was quite impressive considering the settings on the earbuds at the time of testing.

As for the ANC experience, while earbuds naturally give you some noise cancellation by default, Sennheiser still aims to provide the best ANC experience possible, and the ACCENTUM True Wireless Earbuds are no exception. The ACCENTUM earbuds are on par with some of the best ANC systems I’ve tested this year, easily handling the noisy environment of air travel mixed with not one but three crying babies on that flight. Thanks to the impressive ANC, I was able to filter out almost all of the background noise, and the listening experience was still exceptional.
For those that prefer to hear that environment around them as they listen (as an example, while running in a busy neighbourhood) Sennhiser offers a Transparency mode. This option allows levels of environmental noise to be present while listening to audio so as to help maintain situational awareness while on the go. In testing, it works quite well, offering an impressive amount of control over what filters through to the listening experience.

On the note listening experience, many of the features that make the ACCENTUM line so great are present in the True Wireless Earbuds. Soundcheck allows users to cater the listening experience through a series of audio sample tests instead of meticulously EQing everything manually. While playing your favourite music, Soundcheck offers a series of preset audio profiles and, through the process of selecting which ones you prefer, generates a new listening profile that can be named and saved. Its a great way to offer listeners a custom audio experience without needing the knowledge of audio mixing.
Back also is the Sound Zones feature, which allows for a custom audio experience based on locations or zones as they are referred to in the app. Through a quick and easy-to-use setup process, Sound Zones can configure specific listening profiles based on actual location. Creating a Sound Zone is simple and works quite well. So whether at the gym or your bedroom, the ACCENTUM True Wireless Earbuds can adapt to present you with the best audio experience possible.
With this device, the signature Sennheiser audio experience is back. Beautifully clean and crisp audio awaits listeners. In testing, the earbuds managed the frequency spectrum quite well, with no notable noise or muddiness in the audio across the spectrum. Once again vocals are clear and present well against the backdrop of instruments and musical scores. This is, bar none, one of the best features of the ACCENTUM line: its consistency of the audio experience.
Even with ANC active, audio still presents incredibly clearly, with minimal artifacting. The one note that came from testing was related to receiving phone calls. While the audio experience was clear and easy to understand, the overall volume levels during phone calls were reduced when compared to the rest of the audio listening experience. This was different from the ACCENTUM Plus tests and something that seemed a bit odd. Despite this one difference, calls were still clear, and the people on the other end noted that the mic pick-up was clear and loud for them.

The ACCENTUM also comes with full touch controls that can be managed from the Sennheiser app, which is available on both Android and iOS. As for management options, the True Wireless Earbuds come with a host of programmable touch options, all of which can be reprogrammed to fit your needs. While they work exceptionally well, they can be a bit sensitive, especially when taking the earbuds out. More than once, I accidentally turned features such as ANC on and off while removing or placing the earbuds in the ear. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it is something to be aware of.
Another feature included with the ACCENTUM True Wireless earbuds is Bluetooth LE or low energy mode. This feature allows for enhanced audio configuration to help prolong the life of the earbuds when in use. Additionally, this allows for multiple simultaneous device connections. In our tests, the earbuds had no issue maintaining a connection between a Macbook and an Android phone, prioritizing things like phone calls automatically, making it exceptional for an office work environment.
