'Resident Evil 9' Announced at CAPCOM NEXT

Announced just last week, the CAPCOM NEXT aired this Monday, and during it, CAPCOM revealed exciting details regarding three of their upcoming titles, including Resident Evil 9.

At the end of CAPCOM NEXT, Director of Biohazard Koshi Nakanishi briefly revealed Resident Evil 9 after showcasing gameplay from the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. In case fans missed it, the entire CAPCOM NEXT livestream can be seen below.

At the 39:20 mark on CAPCOM NEXT, Koshi Nakanishi blurts out, “We’re making a new Resident Evil.” Nakanishi then says, “It was really difficult to figure out what to do after 7. But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can’t share any details just yet, but I hope you’re excited for the day I can.” Resident Evil (and CAPCOM in general) has been known to use subtitles, especially when it comes to sequels. The original home versions of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 had New Age of Heroes and Fate of Two Worlds subtitled on release, as did the RE series starting with Resident Evil 3: Nemesis in 1999, with Biohazard and Village being the most recent.

'Resident Evil 9' Announced At Capcom Next

While CAPCOM hasn’t given fans much to go on besides ‘it exists’, the company has also brought the previously announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster into the light in other zombie-related news, and they’ve revealed the release date for the re-release will land on September 19. It’s also worth mentioning that today, CAPCOM launched Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on iOS, and judging by the previous Resident Evil 4 release on iOS, it could prove to be a solid port of a fan-favourite game in the series.

While not much else is known regarding the new RE title, fans can head to the official CAPCOM website to see what else they have in the oven.
