Netflix has revealed the first look at Liam Hemsworth in The Witcher Season 4 as Geralt of Rivia after Henry Cavill’s very public exit from the series.

Since the abrupt announcement that Liam Hemsworth would indeed be replacing Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix series The Witcher, fans haven’t been given even a glimpse of what the actor might look like sporting the worn leathers of the monster hunter…until today. Netflix has dropped an incredibly brief teaser on what season four will bring to the table with a new face as Geralt, and it can be seen below as posted on X (formerly Twitter) from the official Netflix account.

Fans have notably pushed back against the decision since it has been announced that season three will be Henry Cavill’s last in the role as Geralt in The Witcher. While no official reason has been given by Cavill or Netflix, the Philippine Star reported in 2021 that Cavill struggled to find a “balance between the showrunners’ vision and my love for the books” and was likely the reason for the exit. It’s necessary to mention that Cavill nor Netflix has since corroborated this claim.

Cavill has since relinquished the role and given Hemsworth good ridings on his Instagram social media. Cavill said in a post, “I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.” Cavill implored Hemsworth to find what he could in the depth of character.

In a statement from The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich, she told Entertainment Weekly “His look has been in development for over a year, so it’s thrilling to finally share an official sneak peek of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” she continued by suggesting Hemsworth has been a professional every day and has brought equal energy to shooting on The Witcher, claiming “Cast and crew alike have been struck by the passion, energy, and embodiment Liam has brought to the character from Day 1.”

The Witcher Season 4 is still in production, and CGMagazine will update readers with a release date when it is given.
