Jujutsu Kaisen 'Special Grade Garlic Sauce' Hits McDonald's July 9

McDonald’s is launching a new special dipping sauce promotion, this time in collaboration with the hit Shonen anime Jujutsu Kaisen.

McDonald’s is a fast-food restaurant known for its exciting collaborations with media, and today, they’ve announced a new one featuring Jujutsu Kaisen. The collaboration brings a ‘Special Grade Garlic Sauce’ to the menu, inspired by the Black Garlic Sauce that’s regularly served on the McDonald’s Japan menu. The announcement was made over on X (formerly Twitter) and can be seen just below.

There’s a catch, though. Fans can’t go inside and demand the sauce this time around and must order through the McDonald’s app. The last time McDonald’s had a sauce distribution in collaboration with an animated series, they released the Rick and Morty Schezuan Sauce, and fans ran amok attempting to get their hands on the limited-run condiment. Some even went as far as jumping on the counter of establishments and shouting lines from the show, which could be precisely why McDonald’s limits the sauce to App orders only for this collab.

The sauce will come with one of eight lids featuring characters from the hit Anime. Fans can scoop the Special Grade Garlic Sauce from lids adorned with Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, Satoru Gojo, Kento Nanami, Suguru Geto, Mahito and Sukuna. The sauce features garlic and soy sauce flavours that create a tangy sweetness and is notably the first McDonald’s Garlic Sauce to hit North America.

Jujutsu Kaisen recently ended its second season on December 28, 2023, so the collaboration with McDonald’s could be the first strategic move in creating a new domain for fans when a season three release date is announced.

Season three has notably already been greenlit, but aside from ‘we know it’s happening,’ nothing else has been announced. The Special Grade Garlic Sauce will start distribution on July 9 exclusively to McDonald’s app orders, and the app can be downloaded here.
