Dead Space Invades Battlefield 2042 In Special Crossover Event

Survive the Outbreak

Battlefield 2042 Goes Sci-Fi Horror With Dead Space Event Next Week

Electronic Arts and the Battlefield 2042 team have delved into their IP catalogue for a unique collaboration: a major Dead Space event is coming to the combat zone next week.

Today, Electronic Arts and the team at DICE behind Battlefield 2042 have pulled back the curtain on a new trailer that institutes the first EA crossover for the brand since the latest Battlefield launched in November 2021. The trailer introduces the new mode, Outbreak, along with a horrifying Dead Space crossover that will see the combat zone run red. The announcement has been made on the official Battlefield X (formerly Twitter) account, and it can be seen below.

The trailer showcases tried and true ‘Extraction shooter’ gameplay (like Rainbow Six: Extraction), against waves of enemies that continually attempt to dismantle your squad. Possibly the most unfortunate part of the crossover is that enemies appear to be fleshy thralls resembling ‘zombies’, and nothing like the monstrous necromorphs the Dead Space series is known for.

The trailer outlines the new outbreak game mode as part of the Battlefield 2042 season seven “Hold the Horde” classification, but it will notably only run for one week. In Outbreak, squads are tested by their resilience against a new and relentless enemy, all while trying to escape the Boreas laboratory. By just playing during the event time, players can snag exclusive (and free) rewards such as a new weapon charm and skin as well as a new player card background and tag.

There is also the option to purchase a new paid bundle called the “Dead Space bundle”, which contains an outfit — that is not named Isaac Clarke — called “Marked Man”, three legendary weapon skins and other goodies. This can be purchased in the store for 2200 BFC.

The Battlefield 2042 x Dead Space crossover arrives next week, starting July 9, and runs until July 16. Fans can stay up to date with all things Battlefield by heading to the official EA website for more news on the state of the game.
