Product description

Enjoy a premium typing experience with the Phantom+ RGB Mechanical Keyboard. Every inch of this keyboard is meticulously crafted, fine-tuned, and specially engineered to deliver a truly remarkable out-of-the-box typing experience. With 16.8 million colors and dynamic lighting effects, your keyboard becomes a captivating centerpiece that enhances your gaming setup or workspace. With 18 pre-set lighting modes, you can easily toggle between different RGB effects via onboard controls, allowing you to customize the brightness, speed, color, and direction to suit your very own preference. The Phantom+ gaming mechanical keyboard features double-shot, double-walled PBT keycaps, molded via a proprietary process, making them highly durable, oil-resistant, and enhancing the overall typing feel. Additionally, the keyboard is equipped with V3 stabilizers for a smooth typing experience, while multi-layered foam padding and added silicon fillers on the top plate reduce unpleasant noise within the keyboard. With its dual-layer fiberglass PCB, the Phantom+ ensures improved signal stability and a longer lifespan, making it a reliable companion for extended use. Pre-installed with Tecware Wraith switches, you can easily swap out switches anytime without the trouble of desoldering. Each Phantom+ keyboard comes with a switch and keycap puller tool, a detachable 1.8m braided USB-C cable, and 4 spare switches.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Keyboard

Was a big fan of the original phantom. The Phantom+ was worth the upgrade, very responsive and has a very crisp sound without it being too loud.

4.0 out of 5 stars Multiple presses and bad key stabilization

I bought this keyboard three months ago and I was initially satisfied with it. However, after using it for a while, I noticed some issues that wouldn't make me recommend it:

The first issue is the stabilization of the longer keys, such as backspace, enter, shift, etc. These keys produce a loud and annoying ‘click’ sound whenever I touch them, even slightly. I thought this was a rare defect, but I ordered another keyboard with different switches, and it had the same problem. So, this seems to be a design flaw rather than a random mistake.

The second issue is the quality of the keycaps, which are supposed to be translucent to allow the LED backlight to shine through. However, the keycaps are poorly made, and the LED does not pass through evenly, resulting in some keys looking half-lit or dim. For example, one of the circles in the % key is barely visible.

The third and most serious issue is the key chattering, which is where a single keystroke is registered as multiple inputs by the keyboard. This happens randomly and frequently with some keys, especially the “o” key. Sometimes, when I press the “o” key once, I get two or more "o"s on the screen. I tried to fix this problem by cleaning the keyboard, changing computers, USB ports, etc., but nothing worked.

For the sound itself (which I guess is one of the main reasons anyone would go for this keyboard), I'd say it's great. I bought the pink and the orange switches. I prefer the sound and feel of the orange switches more (heavier, less chance of pressing a key accidentally, more "thocky"). However, with the stabilization issues that I mentioned, they definitely lower it for me.

I wouldn't buy it again, nor would I recommend it, but your experience might be different.

UPDATE: Tecware's support refunded me for the keyboard under their 1-year warranty, which I appreciate as a gesture of good customer service. While the keyboard had some design flaws and quality control issues that made it difficult to recommend, Tecware's willingness to stand behind their product and address my concerns speaks well of the company.

I've used many keyboards over the years and I can honestly say I've never had this much pleasure typing on this keyboard. I've had Tecware Phantom keyboards before but this is the improved plus version. I opted for the orange wraith switches as I wasn't a big fan of the gateron switches much improved. I'm also only a part time gamer and type more than game so I like tactile switches for that. I had read about orange switches before from another company (won't mention)but they discontinued them. With the prelubed job and foam dampers installed this thing is pretty close to being linear it's like having the best of both worlds. The first thing I noticed is it is a heavy keyboard which is nice. I also replaced all the ABS keycaps with a set of Tecware PBT keycaps I had purchased earlier for another keyboard I no longer have. They are not as glossy and will wear longer but chiefly the ABS keycaps had arrows for the Tab, Shift, CapsLock and enter keycaps that really bug me the PBT at least has the words to accompany them as my photo shows. My only complaint is the slight light bleed around the keycaps that is expected with a floating keycap design but I'll get used it as this is really a nice feeling keyboard and the best budget board you'll find anywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing value

This keyboard is an great value for the price. There is a lot of subjectivity when choosing a keyboard, but the feel and sound of this thing is fantastic. I swap between boards often, and I find myself using this one more often than other that cost 3-4x the price. My main is still a lightly modified Dygma Raise for the ergonomics. Totally different price category though.

My daughter took mine for her desk, so I may need to get another (not that I need another keyboard!!!). I may get the elite on the next one, to see how much value is added with the keycaps and 5-pin sockets, wireless doesn't add much for me... Or I may just take the win with the non-elite board. Unlike most of my keebs, I felt no need to modify the phantom+ with orange switches.

1/2/2024 UPDATE: They have replied to me and have honored their warranty. For the price, I still think this keyboard is worth it
12/11/23 UPDATE: One of the keys (number 4 key) seems to have a defective led bulb as it is struggling and cannot display any hue of blue.

Already contacted support for a possible fix or a warranty as they do say that it has 1 year warranty but there has been no reply as of now.

Will update here on the resolution they provide. I am still hoping it's just a one-off instance as it's a very nice keyboard

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
If you want to experience the world of modded keyboards and keyboard enthusiasts, I would suggest you buy this keyboard as the sound profile and feel of the keyboard is already like a modded keyboard from factory. It feels crisp, has custom switches, has sound dampening and foam and a good software.

Overall great buy for me.

If you want to mod yourself then another keyboard might be better for you but if you want modded experience and performance right out of the box, this is the one I would suggest.
