This is as close to perfect as you can get. As improbable as it is, all 5 of these books merit at least 4.5 stars apiece. In the dozens of Star Wars books I've read or listened to since I'm always thinking about what a loss Karen Traviss has been to the SW-novel world.

As a matter of fact, my phone just auto-suggested her last name when I typed Karen! If it makes any difference at all, I'm a 41 year old woman and not the 19 year old boy you may have been imagining.
The characters in Republic Commando, Order 66, etc. are so well-developed that they will make you FEEL. So glad I came across these.

Years ago I got the 1st 3 of the series and could not wait to get the other two. I still have them. Once they came out I got them and then read them within day's. This is my favorite series of Star Wars. The Thrawn Trilogy is my second favorite. The only thing that would make these better is if that were available on Audible.

Still my favorite Star Wars series to date. Be forewarned, if you're looking for stories of epic force battles or mystical jedi tales, look somewhere else. This series is 50% gritty, tactical war novels and 50% Star Wars shoot-em-up. Also the story is cut short to due conflict with the old canon. Not that it matters anymore. Still a great read.

These are the best novels in the Legends universe, and possibly of all time, in Star Wars. Karen is a Treasure to Humanity. Disney should've left her interpretation of Clones and their Instructors alone, when they killed Legends.

If the movies touched on a story that was anywhere close to what these books did they might have actually been good movies. I'm sad this series will never be finished, but I absolutely adored it.

Karen Traviss
Biography

Karen Traviss is the author of a dozen New York Times bestsellers, and her critically-acclaimed Wess’har books have been finalists five times for the Campbell and Philip K. Dick awards. She also writes thrillers, comics, and games with military and political themes. A former defence correspondent, TV journalist, and spin doctor (okay, nobody's perfect) she lives in Wiltshire, England. She expects to be remembered for her devotion to brewing sake and fermenting anything that stands still long enough to be stuffed in a jar.
