So this is the story that takes place right after Return of the Jedi. Luke Leaves Endor to assist Wedge in a quick mission to retrieve information from an imperial probe droid that is spinning around in space. Apparently the prob droid was on it's way to the Death Star II, but since the Death Star II is destroyed at the end of Return of the Jedi, the probe droids message remains unanswered. Once the message is decoded by the Rebel Alliance it sends a message asking the Imperials for assistance of the planet of Bakura which is the location of an imperial outpost. Apparently the imperial on Bakura along with countless innocent civilians are being attacked by a new type of villain called the Ssi-ruuk who are capturing people.
Apparently the Ssi-Ruuk can strip out someones consciousness and stick that person into a droid inorder to give that droid life. This way they wouldn't have to use troopers. Because a droid doesn't have to eat, sleep, go to the bathroom and have pain. The Ssi-Ruuk actually call this liberation and that living a life inside a droid without pain or hunger is good for all humanity. Luke, Han and Leia as well as the Imperials and Alliance think other wise. It is actually pretty creepy. Some people are actually placed inside computer consoles and not droids.
Think of it like the movie Avatar but this time the person is painfully put inside a droid permanently and their human bodies are thrown out. Since the droids reprogram the people they no longer feel human and instead are basically ghosts trapped inside droids in order to give thee droids power and consciousness. The people trapped also loose their free will as they will be programed by the droids computer instead.
The question now is will the Rebel alliance answer the distress call? or will they ignore it and potentially let the imperials and potential innocent civilians die and be subjected to this evil version of Avatar the movie.
During the Truce of Bakura we see Luke still feeling the negative effects of the force lightening that emperor Palatine inflicted on him.
. We also see that Han gets a gift by the Ewoks which is basically really sweet fruit wine. Han and Leia enjoy the sweet treat in the back of the cargo hold of the Falcon. We also see a potential love interest Between Luke and one of the Imperial Senators out on Bakura. However she does not care for the Jedi order and this leaves some conflict even though both seem to like each other. There is also a character named Dev who at first seems to be working for the Ssi-Ruuk. However he has been brain-washed in order to follow the Ssi-Ruuks commands. The only reason the Ssi-ruuk keep this human alive is due to his potential force powers.
The Truce at Bakura is an overall fun story. It can get dull and boring at times. The villains are a bit silly, since they are basically Jurassic park raptors that can talk and shot with blasters. But over all it's a fun read. We get to see Luke, Wedge, Han, Leia, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3pO back in other Star Wars Tale. If you are a big Star Wars fan and want to know all the stories that happened after Return of the Jedi, then this is the first book you should start reading.

I was under the impression I was buying a brand new book. Even if I accidentally bought a used copy this is unacceptable, pages 3-6 have been entirely ripped out of the book.
