I play in a cover band out of STL. We were looking to buy a compact wireless microphone system to put in our road rack that would allow us to take our IEM system to clubs with house sound and enhance our performances with wireless vocal capabilities. The PTU-7000B was right at the price point we were looking for.

The 7000B option has four wireless headset mics and also came with lav mics. Given the video production we do, I thought this was a nice add. I also ended up buying four handheld mics that can be paired with the system. The headset mic option intrigued me. I was worried about the "boy band" look, but to my surprise, I have really enjoyed the freedom from being chained to the mic stand. Both myself (guitarist) and our bassist have opted for the headset.

We were concerned about sacrificing sound quality over our wired mics. We all used wired Shure Beta 58s for vocals previously. But given we are a bar band, we could sacrifice some sound quality for a more interactive performance. But after we dialed in the EQ on both the headset and handheld mics, there is little to no noticable difference. These mics sound surprisingly good. And the range is excellent as well. Certainly enough for a bar band.

We are extremely satisfied with the purchase. After a few months of testing, we have not run into any issues. We even went back to Phenyx to buy new IEM systems when we were forced to go to a different frequency band. Thanks Phenyx for a fun, affordable, reliable option!

(Hoping to post some video in the near future).
