Wow. Just Wow. Lords of the Sith is the type of book you get from the mind of a master. Paul S Kemp writes Sith brilliantly, showing their power, cruelty and inner demons. This work encompasses the heart of Star Wars and shows why it is beloved to so many, whether you are a rebel or Imperial fan. Both sides are richly textured, you feel what motivates, stimulates and what regrets both Vader and Cham Syndulla, father of Hera Syndulla of Rebels have. This intricately crafted tale encompasses others in their web, fellow freedom fighters Isval, Goll and more for Cham- the Imperial turncoat Belkor and his boss Mof More, as well as the developing relationship between Vader and the Emperor. Treachery, greed and death abound and hard choices are made, as well as the outcome of decisions rendered make some question their involvement and commitment to the cause for both sides. Twists and turns abound that you don't see coming. For Sith fans, both Vader and the Emperor display their formidable Force skills and Cham proves to be a master chess player who doesn't realize exactly what he's dealing with. You see the same dedication in his daughter Hera on the Rebels show. I read this book using immersion reading, while listening to the wonderful Jonathan Davis narrating. As usual, he is spot on and his Vader and Emperor voices are incredible.
This book also includes a wonderful little short story called Orientation by another of my favorites, John Jackson Miller, featuring a young Rae Sloane.
