In "Scoundrels," not everything is as it appears. We have Han, Chewie, and Lando, and even Kell and Winter, all working together on a job that was to net them 163 million credits, enough to get Jabba off Han's back -- enough for everyone to retire.

I am a fan of Timothy Zahn's, but I wouldn't count this as one of his better works. There were times I couldn't follow point A to point B. It feels like there might have been some scenes edited out and crucial details accidentally cut. I'd go back to hunt for what I'd missed and still didn't find it. It happened on several scenes, which irked me. Read it quickly and maybe you won't notice the discrepancies.

It was nice to see Han, Chewie, and Lando in their younger days having and adventure together. There was an element of superheroics, as everyone is more than capable of doing their jobs. Even when they're in trouble, we know they'll get out. No fear. Every safe can be opened, every barrier can be breached, any code can be broken. You'd think Black Sun could come up with better defenses.

"Scoundrels" is all action, not a lot of depth. If you're looking for a lighter read, this is for you.
