Been waiting for this book a looooooong time! Was happy to find it was very much worth the wait.

It follows Darth Plagueis's ascension to becoming a Sith Lord, his obsession with manipulating midi-cholorians, plans for ruling the galaxy, his relationship with his apprentice Palpatine/Darth Sidious, and ultimately his downfall. A good portion of the book also focuses on Palpatine and his rise to political power with the help of Plagueis. Along the way, you learn a great deal about Sith history (BTW, if you enjoy Sith stories, try the Darth Bane trilogy - it is awesome!)

Pros: well planned story, cunning political maneuvering by the Sith, the inclusion of many well-known SW characters (I won't spoil it for you, but many are present), crafty ending that gives a different point of view that The Phantom Menace displays.

Cons: while the polictical maneuvering mentioned above was interesting because it showed foresight and intelligence by the Sith, it did slow down the book at times (at times I wanted more lightsaber duels and force lightning!!!!!HA!), Lucerno writes a good book for sure, but in many cases he uses these huge words no one has ever heard of before to further his points (I'm 34 yrs old with a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, and work toward my doctorate and I have no clue as to what some of the words he uses means) - Keep it simple!
