It starts well, gets extremely muddled and annoying in the middle, but then ends well. And Ventress gets an ending she deserves.

But the irritating thing about Star Wars stories are that there are markers around every story that can't be crossed. Dooku always dies at the beginning of Episode III and Anakin is the one who kills him. Ventress and Vos were never going to succeed. Was it worth the exercise? Did the Council learn its lessen? But we know they don't because they failed and most of them die soon after this. And Anakin always chooses the dark side.

I liked the book for Vestress' sake. But all the fellas can go hang.
