Star Trek Prometheus - Fire with Fire Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

The Federation races to discover the culprits of several terrorist attacks, sending their flagship, the USS Prometheus, to stop war breaking out in the galaxy.

A mysterious terrorist organisation has carried out several attacks against the Federation and Klingon Empire. Tensions are running high in a region already crippled by conflict. The perpetrators are tracked to the Lembatta Cluster, a mysterious region of space whose inhabitants, the Renao, regard the Alpha Quadrant s powers as little more than conquering tyrants. The Federation are desperate to prevent more bloodshed, and have sent their most powerful warship, the USS Prometheus, into the Cluster to investigate the threat before all-consuming war breaks out.

A good story, with a new crew. The problems in the Lembatta cluster are pretty compelling, as it the constant antagonism of the Prometheus crew from their "allies" on the IKS Bortas. Kept me reading all three books. But for PETE'S SAKE Titan books, put numbers on your books in series! Amazon makes it easy. I don't need to spend time trying to figure out which book should be read next!

This is the first in a trilogy as well as the first in a new series of books. Prometheus was well written with excellent character development and a plot that started the reader's imagination racing from the very beginning. This book also includes a character long known in Trekdom. I loved this book from cover to cover! My only concern was some idioms that did not get translated well from the author's native tongue,German. These were distracting during a key battle scene. Highly recommend this book to any lover of Star Trek!! So looking forward to the release of the second book. Awesome!!

Another new ship and crew to go hopping around the galaxy! Love the new characters, love he new ship! On a not so good note, another deadly adversary killing thousands of people. A good story but not every one has to be galaxy wide extinction event. Stilll I can't wait to see where this new crew takes us...

On the plus side, the characters were interesting, and those that carried over from established canon (Spock, Alexander) were true to their roots. The plot was okay, nothing to write home about but not bad, and the pacing was pretty good. Unfortunately, the writing itself was a bit dubious; while far from the worst book I've ever seen in this regard, or even the worst Star Trek book, there were a few too many cases of poor word choice/awkward phraseology for my taste. Probably somewhere between half a dozen and a dozen. Things like "...an impassionate glance" when what is clearly meant was a DISpassionate glance (for one thing, in the context, "impassionate" would make no sense, especially considering that the author of the glance is Spock, and for another, "impassionate" isn't even a word, as is reflected in the fact that my computer is highlighting it when I write it here.) Or "...these days are long past..." when what was clearly intended was "those days are long past". Or (a straightforward typo) working a graveyard ship" rather than a graveyard shift. Or "you seem to be working on a very different starbase to me" rather than "from me". Or one that would have been fine if there had just been a properly-inserted comma: "the Klingon leader of the away team growled and grinned satisfied." Put a comma after grinned, and we'd be fine. Or "...the political goals of her appraised predecessor..." I'm not even sure what was INTENDED there, although I'm guessing "esteemed".

I know nobody's perfect, and I certainly know better by now than to expect perfection from a mass-market, genre paperback. But there were just a few too many of these sort of errors to overlook. One or two r even three a book, sure. I'll note them, but I won't bring it up in a review. But not this many. This is just sloppy, and the story isn't really good enough to justify giving it a pass.

The story itself is well written without being overly SciFi. Books like this one is why Trek lit is always readable. The character, both protagonists and antagonists, are well thought out and written. I look forward to reading the next one.

The first offering in this series is refreshing. We are offered both new and old familiar faces from the Star Trek universe. The story is focused, moves along quickly, and is engaging. Captain Adams and his crew are a welcome addition to ST. Looking forward to subsequent volumes.

I was excited to see this ship in a novel and I think this a good start. The characters are good and will only get better. The author does a nice job spending more time on the crew than the ship. I would recommend the book to others and I look forward to the next installment.

This novel as the first book of a trilogy proceeded at a lively and dynamic pace. It was very exciting and dramatic to read. I was spellbound and I was hooked with this great narrative. It was remarkably original and I was thrilled to read on. I look forward to reading book 2 (and eventually book 3) as this wonderful story continues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Il futuro è già qui!

I read one really poor review but thought what the heck, I love the Star Trek universe. I was pleasantly surprised. Its a really good story and its well written. The author's understanding of the Star Trek time line was spot on. Character development was very good. I recommend it!
