Not only are these women champions on the soccer field, they also champion reading—which we are of course thrilled with. We had the opportunity to connect with Naomi Girma, Emily Fox, and Rose Lavelle and ask them what books are on their to-be-read piles. Here are six books at the top of their summer reading lists.
I wanted to add a fantasy novel and “The Lost Bookshop” felt like the perfect before-bed book. I’ve heard it's fast-paced, fun, and even has some romance. As a book lover, hearing that the main characters themselves are book lovers gave me all the information I needed to have this be my go-to book this summer. —Naomi Girma
This was written by a good friend of mine! I know it will be a beautifully written but heartbreaking story. Even though it will be sad, I’m excited to read it because it is important to constantly reflect and be thankful for loved ones and all the love in your life. —Naomi Girma
This story came to my attention when the movie arrived a few years ago, but I just recently got my hands on it officially. I’ve been told it's an incredible story of justice and redemption that truly reflects the world around us. I think this book will not only be a page-turner but will provide some insightful perspectives, and I assume I will be recommending it to my teammates! —Emily Fox
I am a massive fan of the Crescent City series and sped through the first two. I am so excited to get completely immersed in the next book. I have already raved about the first two books to the Kindle Crew. —Emily Fox
I have always been a proponent of therapy, so a book by a therapist seems right up my alley! As an athlete, focusing on your mental health is just as important as physical, so I am looking forward to learning more about myself as I read this book. —Rose Lavelle
This book was my first time dipping my toe in the fantasy world and it did not disappoint. It's perfect if you are looking for a feel good, fun story, and you'll definitely want to read it soon because the sequel comes out in September. —Rose Lavelle
