Throne World: Undying Mercenaries, Book 21 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

The Galaxy is ruled by a single Empire—but the Imperial throne is empty.

The machine races demand a turn at the job, but the organics refuse to allow it. For more than a century, the Galactics have battled for supreme power. War and instability reign in place of peace, with every species spread over a hundred billion stars suffering as the Empire decays.

James McGill discovers a scheme is underway. A new power is rising, determined to snatch the Throne from all the rest. Will this unite the Galactic Empire, or destroy it utterly?

Find out in Throne World, the thrilling twenty-first book of the Undying Mercenaries series. With millions of copies sold, USA Today bestselling author B. V. Larson is the king of modern military science fiction.

OK, this review is really only to keep the series going. If you are looking at book 21 then just go back and start a book 1. I have read (and bought) every one of them. I kinda consider this series something of a guilty pleasure. Not exactly high brow literature but SO fun to read. I am constantly looking for a new world to explore with this fun if flawed cast of characters.

As usual BVL has produced a highly detailed complex Undying Mercenaries adventure. The only flaw I thought in the book was BVL rehashing James McGill's alleged flaws over and over and over in the first half of the book. Regardless the book is very good!

Larson delivers again. This series is truly under rated and under appreciated. McGill never ceases to deliver on humor and plot. Keep It up BV!

I've read every book in this series and will continue to do so. The first book was a little rough but interesting in a cartoonish way. But with each book thereafter, the characters become fuller and, for me, very likable. I think McGill is one of the funnest people I've ever had imagined for me. The cast of characters flesh out a little bit more with every book. What starts out and probably remains shallow with the first and individual books becomes a well rounded story full of people I feel I've met as I continue thru the series. Mr Larson develops his characters slowly, avoiding quick love stories and the like. He develops depth of relationship slowly, as he does with the development of the arc of the greater story. He doesn't write himself into corners. Thank you for this gift.

If you like the previous books this one is excellent. It provides more of what is going on in the galaxy politics but story still centers on McGill. This time he follows orders and still get into trouble. I like the series and I recommend reading it. Only drawback is you need to have read previous books to fully understand references.

Well I must say I have enjoyed the series… 21 books. I guess when your hero never dies or really grows older they don’t need to change or promote. I mean Graves is just an older McGill. Anyway the book was ok. Just the same thing as before. I don’t know if any of the other series’ have what I want, but at this rate, why look? Thanks for the story. See you next time.

Good storyline and a departure from the norm. As you read on you realize there’s a plot behind a plot and another direction this story can go and subtle changes show that it can. In the next adventure I hope the plot picks up on this one and continues along into new adventures.

Another excellent tale in the saga of Legion Varus in general and James McGill in particular. Highly enjoyable, can't wait for the next installment in the Undying Mercenary series to see where the legion - and it's most disreputable century in to next

5.0 out of 5 stars Game Of Thrones Galactic Power Style

Another great entry in an outstanding series. The empire doesn't have an emperor and wars are raging in the core. Fortunately for Earth it is on the outer marches and is somewhat sheltered from the storm. Unfortunately Earth is in the employ of one of the races who has a scheme for the throne. McGill is once again front and center of events. Enjoyable storytelling with all the combat and political backstabbing and intrigue that is one of the haulmarks of this series. Earth's political future is also up for grabs as those who have ruled from the shadows start to come out in the open. McGill at the end has found himself playing a high stakes game without knowing the rules or having the capital to cover his bets. Looking forward to seeing the fallout.
