With The Book of Sith, what you get for your money is a very well-presented, cleverly-written, & beautifully-illustrated collection of Sith Lore which also functions as a reader's introduction to some of the Sith Lords that are only to be found in the Star Wars novels.The level of polish that was administered here in regard to the book's overall presentation, & the meticulous attention to detail given as to the content being accurate to its source material, is most assuredly impressive. The Sith ideology is explained in intricate & methodical detail, often with a degree of fanaticism that is so obviously heavy-handed & over-the-top that you can plainly see that the writer of The Book of Sith intended you to have fun & not take the dark tone of the subject matter too seriously while reading it. Often I found myself laughing out loud at the author's underlying sarcasm while I studied Palpatine's insane dogma, each statement more outrageous than the last. "It is necessary to lie to achieve anything of value." "A skilled liar is nearly impossible to detect." Obviously, the fundamental concepts that outline how the Sith Order approaches their doctrine, aren't to be applied to real-life scenarios, it's just a book that people were intended to read & enjoy.The Book of Sith is comprised of chapters, or sections, which usually take the form of some sort of document, or treatise, that was composed by a particular Sith Lord, so as to acclimate the reader with whichever era in Star Wars history they lived during, & what their accomplishments & basic philosophies were when they were alive, causing havoc & stirring up trouble in the galaxy. Palpatine is the most prevalent 'author' to be found in The Book of Sith's pages, but there are plenty of others that are included here. Lore which pertains to the Sith Lord Darth Bane comprises a portion of the volume, with his section devoted to the Sith Rule of Two, & is accurate to the source material. Surprisingly it does not really contain any plot spoilers that would disappoint someone who wanted to read the Darth Bane Trilogy after reading this book. There's also a journal that Darth Malgus wrote while he served and fought for the Empire in the Rim Campaign, back in the days of the Old Republic, thousands of years before the events in the movies. The journal ends sometime before the events in the Old Republic novel 'Deceived.' Darth Plagueis has a section in which the journal he keeps discusses his theories on Midi-Chlorians & prolonging life, which certainly correlate to the 'Darth Plagueis' novel by James Luceno. There are copious footnotes & annotations on random pages, many containing interesting facts which further illustrate the Star Wars mythology, and are basically the musings or thoughts of various individuals from the Star Wars Universe, such as Luke Skywalker, Emperor Palpatine, Yoda, Mace Windu, Mother Talzim are a few (I'm sure you get the idea).I should mention that you receive a surprisingly substantial amount of content with The Book of Sith. What I mean by this is generally when you buy a book that is illustrated throughout, such as this one is, what you get is a ton of pictures that have little-to-no text accompanying them, and you end up feeling like you just purchased a glorified picture book. With The Book of Sith, there really is no reason for complaint, as there's plenty of engaging subject matter to help you wile away the hours as you read about all of your favorites.All told, I'm definitely a fan of The Book of Sith. I think it was a worthwhile investiture of my money & would absolutely suggest you give it a try if you are at all interested in the Dark Side, or of the Sith, in general. It's well-presented & also very skillfully-written, I've never heard of Daniel Wallace before reading this book, but I think the work he did here speaks for itself.
