This game is a nice fresh breath of co-op air in an over-abundance of shoddy live services.

The gameplay feels incredibly well thought-out and it's clear the developers enjoyed making this. Truly a labor of love! The live-service aspects are NOT burdensome in the slightest. The amount of credits you earn may seem small at first, but you will have plenty of stuff to unlock using only medals for dozens of hours.

Yes this game has a lot of bugs, yes crazy things do happen because of those bugs, but the developer is fixing things and that is what I love to see! It might be taking time, but this game did take time to make and the developer takes time to do things right!

Now for the wild side: Sony

I'm not going to completely rag on Sony here. I am stoked that they gave this developer enough time and money to make the game of their (and our) dreams come true. That is how a publisher should do things! You need to let art take its course and let it become something beautiful. What is left is a game that actually has a soul.

But as we all have seen, publishers can take dark paths. Thankfully, the community banded together and things are turning around. It's unfortunate that things had to go that direction, but it will be for the best going forward.

Bought it because a couple of friends play this and I wanted to play with them.

I don't know how it's played but I'm already a cated level 4 I think? I don't understand the game options but was able to jump into battle and start shooting either aliens or robots.

Probably should get Game of the Year! You’ll understand the title of my review better once you get going in the game. It has no story mode but playing w other players really makes the game more enjoyable but you can play solo. I didnt think I would enjoy playing w random ppl online cause its not my usual cup of tea. But this game just blew my mind. Give it a go. I do not regret this purchase one bit.

So I got this game the first day and was able to load it just fine. Took a long time to copy it over which I thought was weird on a PS5, But it did eventually download. A friend waited to load his and it took over two plus hours to copy and install, then he could not play due to too much traffic on the server. I tired again this morning and could not log onto as their server is overloaded. This reminds me of another game I bought recently that was overhyped and then you could not get onto the server to play. No option to play this local either. And yes, you also have to have Playstation plus. So it is for sure a marketing and money making strategy for Playstation. So very badly launched in terms of not anticipating the amount of traffic. Today is 3 days after the launch and good luck trying to play it. I guess this will eventually get resolved. As for the game it bears a great deal of similarity to the original. One issue I had when I was able to get into the game was the lack of ammo. The enemies overwhelm you and you have no ammo. The cooldown on the ammo drop is about 5 minutes so that just does not comport with the amount of enemies that melee and overwhelm you. Hard to play alone, but it is manageable with another person. But so far my friend and I that played the hell out of the original game cannot get on to even play. Like the aforementioned game that took 10 years to roll out and then was in accessible this game is in the same boat. Could be fun but they did not anticipate the traffic on their server and hence it is inaccessible to a lot of folks that bought this game. I am purposely not mentioned the other game here as I expect Amazon would not want that named in their review. This game was a third of the cost compared to the other game so I at least feel not so ripped off. But when you pay any amount for a game the vendor should not launch it until they have the infrastructure ( servers ) in place to handle the traffic. Three days out and you still cannot access it? And unlike the other game which did post updates about the issue, there are no messages about any fixes. So my advice is avoid buying this for the time being. Also, when I could play it I honestly found it a bit clunky in terms of gameplay and other areas that they could have vastly improved over the original. You still have to hold the L1 key down and punch in a sequence of arrow patterns to bring down any defenses or weapons. All nearly impossible when you are being surrounded. So you spend a lot of time running from the enemy instead of engaging them because you have no ammo. The graphics are great I will say that. It also uses perspective control with the left stick which I like. Some may hate this over the original. But since I cannot play it I cannot add much more that this. I will update this review down the road if they fix the server issue. and I can play it. But for now I would say don't waste you money. You will be frustrated when you cannot launch a session.

So am updating review of this game today reducing it to one star. Now 10 days out from its launch. Still unable to access the game due to server being overloaded? I was able to play it for a while yesterday morning early. After that and all weekend no access. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS GAME! You will not be able to access it except perhaps in the middle of the night. Just a total rip off for everyone who spent money on this. Buy from a more reputable game creator with adequate servers and the ability to address issues like this! Just a total rip off!
